The recent World Cup Qualifying game played by the Reggaeboyz against El Salvador in Kingston Jamaica could be classified as nothing but a waste of precious time and a glorious opportunity, to make a major step closer to qualifying for Germany 2006 that went begging. Even though some of the die hearted fans have failed to see it as such.

Over the years we have prided ourselves as being the stalwart of CONCACAF, however, in my mind this is only a pretence and a great illusion. It is sad to say, but the real king of CONCACAF is the U.S. of A., whether we want to belive it or not.

We the fans will contend that football should be entertaining, however, be reminded also that it should be most of all constructive and productive. Goals win matches, not exciting and fancy foot work that produces nothing.

Often times I have heard negative talks about the U.S.A and their style of play by the Reggaeboyz fans. They will readily tell you that their style of play is rather boring and has no flare to it. However, let me as the question, which team is more productive, displaying a better knack for team work ? Which team seems to be getting the job done ninety nine percent of the time.

Be reminded that as much as we would like to see our team successful, games are won on the field of play, not in the locker rooms or around some key-boards where some outrageous out comes can be predicted. Wish full thinking, so to speak. The coaches can only instruct the players, the best they know how, the rest is up to the players once they hit the battle field.

It is use less and rather nonsensical for us to sit here and criticize the U.S.A.'s style of play, when it is evident that they are the better team. To date, we have played them quite a few times and as never beaten them once. That alone speaks for it's self.

Now that we have pissed away a glorious opportunity to win at home convincingly making life easier, we are faced with the task of playing the U.S. in November at a time when the weather is most unforgiving especially to the Boyz who are from a warmer climatic region. A game in which we must win under much unfavorable weather conditions. I must say, it is not impossible, but the odds of us winning is way off.

If we intend to be contenders in the world of the beautiful game we call football, we cannot continue to be mediocres. Performing on an incosistent basis, displaying a lack of un-professionalism. If we continue this trend then our hopes and dreams will eventually evaporate, becomming nothing but a fleeting illusion, never to be attained. It is time that we approach this game that we have come to know and play for so long, with a certain amount of seriousness and dedication.

I am Poisondart and this is commentary.
