  • Raymond Anderson should be our new JFF President.

The Youtubers claim to be fair and balanced, but are they?

These YouTubers have been great for our football. Slowly they have been generating much growth in interest in 'JA Ball'. However, in one respect their support for the current JFF regime and their anti-Raymond Anderson slant reminds of the United States of America media conglomorate Fox News' fair and balanced claim. The Youtubers often and stridently claim they are dispassionate and (not verbatim) 'Fair and Balanced' while vehemently attacking Anderson and the Anderson team who are offering itself as an alternative to the Ricketts led administration.

Anderson brings nothing new to the table the Youtubers claim.

He cannot 'speak properly' and therefore cannot represent the JFF in international forums or successfully attract private money.

He has no record he can run on, the Youtubers say. Yet, these are the same individuals who have often put forward on their broadcasts that the JFF’s most pressing need outside of necessary leadership quality is inadequate funding. What has Raymond Anderson done? He has brought in talent to infuse the marketing department he envisions must and will greatly increase funding for football. Each onlooker and the voters in the coming JFF Congress must ask themselves: Is this not a welcome change that Raymond brings? …and answer, “Yes! This is needed change. It answers our often repeated cries and longing for adequate funding to fuel football development across the entire island."

If the Youtubers' were fair and balanced, one would think the Ricketts' administration achievements and failures would be equally apportioned to Richetts and Anderson as long time stewards of our football.

The Youtubers being ‘Fair and Balanced’ should have been saying the lack of funding should be blamed on the Ricketts' administration.

The local football landscape would show much more movement towards full utilization of local resources than that which has occurred within the last six years. After all is said, local development in all areas of the football is near rock bottom. It is always easier to make huge strides forward when an administration is poor. When a football administration, indeed any sport organization is under the stewardship of top competent successive administrators for an appreciable time progress is incremental and slow. Our Jamaica Football Federation has been long under the leadership of administrators who have lacked vision and will. As collective the JFF leadership under Ricketts' guide has been poor. Even the Youtubers have acknowledged this. Indeed, all fanz of Jamaica's football have acknowledged that The Football is not well run.

Let us look at what Anderson has put forward and enunciated as needed to propel 'JA ball' forward and upwards.

    - A new management team infused with specific expertise to tackle and produce a) Funding infusion; b) The turnaround of the JFF's image as a failing institution lacking transparency and honesty. iii) Comprehensive development that embraces all.

    - A willingness to put on the field of play the best representative teams. This latter was a direct challenge to the seemingly inept manner the current administration handled the Reggae Girlz on field representation as the Reggae Girlz and Jamaica’s fight for qualification to CONCACAF's first Women Gold Cup. The present administration scuttled efforts to build on the momentum gained during the last World Cup campaign where the Reggae Girlz reached the round of 16.

Anderson, publicly called on the current administration to find a resolution to the impasse between the JFF and the Reggae Girlz early in the efforts aimed at qualifying for the historic 2024 Gold Cup Final tournament. The YouTubers and all Jamaica have since observed the current JFF's administration stance and deliberate action to exclude our historic achieving Reggae Girlz from the JFF’s squad. That incomprehensible act of excluding Jamaica’s best players doomed the Reggae Girlz Gold Cup 2024 campaign. The subsequent result of being absent from the 2024 Inaugural Gold Cup tournament will be felt for decades. It denied exposure of our top quality football to the CFU’s, CONCACAF’s and World Football’s football marketplace. It denied current younger players possible entry to professional settings. Surely, the Ricketts’ administration sent a message to football entities who may have considered a search for young talent from among our footballers to dismiss such a thought? It was a monumental leadership failure of Michael Ricketts and his administration.

In the face of Raymond Anderson’s call for resolving the issues outlined by the Reggae Girlz and the giving of our Jamaica Women World Cup 2023 ambassadors and Reggae Girlz the best opportunity to attend at the 2024 Women Gold Cup Ricketts instead gambled with a second tier squad. The result was ensuring Jamaica's absence from the coming Women Gold Cup tournament. Still the Youtubers claimed Anderson brought no new vision and presented no different leadership style! How so?

The Youtubers would want us to believe that each is blind or naive or inexperienced novices. Do you, the fanz, the footballers - male and female - believe the Youtubers were unaware of what qualification for the Women Gold Cup 2024 would mean for our 'JA ball', Jamaica and Jamaicans resident inside and outside of the island? What could appearance at the 2024 Gold Cup mean for a JFF administration as negotiations are ongoing or about to be initiated with current sponsors and potential sponsors of Jamaica's football? What could it mean to the fanz and Jamaicans at home and residing outside of the island? It bears repeating; the Michael Ricketts’ administration ineptitude, and the attendant failure to exploit for the benefit of all the quality play of the 2023 Reggae Girlz World Cup Squad was epic…a monumental failure.

The Youtubers need to rid themselves of their inherent biases and in a believable fair and balanced manner review Raymond Anderson’s team and manifesto.

Local development and production of top quality male and female players and teams that transition into, and transform our club and national teams from earliest of age-groups through to the national senior teams is addressed. Improving the JFF’s tattered image to well respected one is addressed. Improved transparency is addressed. Return of integrity is addressed. Fielding our strongest squads at all times is addressed. Dispassionate rational thinking on where changes are to be made and identified areas of success that would kept and improved is addressed. Reaching out to all stakeholders is addressed. It is time for a new beginning, an embrace of persons who will drive our football development forward towards the ultimate goals of producing top quality players, on field top quality teams display and a thriving successful Business of Football. It is time for a Raymond Anderson approach. Raymond Anderson has shown where he parts way with the current JFF's management style and has offered a better path forward. For Parish Presidents the promise of greater funding to spur development in their parishes is a God send.

    FORWARD!

The YouTubers may continue with the disparaging comments on Raymond Anderson and they may continue with their acting, feigned physical contortions of face, derisive laughs and claims of 'similar to Ricketts...no change' to distract from his proposals and approach. ...but I urge all to dispassionately view his manifesto. You will come away with far different views than that expressed by the Youtubers.

      Incidentally - Manifesto definition:
A manifesto is a written statement that publicly declares the views, intentions, or motives of an individual, group, political party, or government.

Karl: The game within the game!

Our development as a football power is as far away as the thinking and mindset of our leaders.

An excellent start to traveling the path to success on the world’s football stage occurred in 1994 with the assumption of the top job, president of the Jamaica Football Federation, by Captain Horace Burrell. Captain Burrell moved our football from being a Caribbean also ran to making...

Preparing For The Cup In Mexico

    February 24, 2011, 05:26 PM
The young Boyz sacrified much, trained hard, palyed well and qualified.
So what now? Does the work stop? Does the squad to Mexico need any tinkering? Do we get a foreign coach to go with/without WD40?

Yes, I know! It's a a bit too early to start the bickering, the tinkering and the changing of the guards. But let's take a retrospective view at our youths at previous World Cups.
