Hyde to take charge at Tivoli

Lenworth Hyde is set to take charge at former National Premier League (NPL) champions Tivoli Gardens when the new season gets under way.

Hyde who was voted as the premier league's coach of the year in the 2006-2007 season, after leading Harbour View to the club's second national title will replace stand in coach Desmond Francis.

Hyde who has also won titles with this season's champions Portmore United, was released from his contract after a tough season with the Stars of the East, who not only surrendered the league title, but despite the success of being crowned Caribbean Club champions, went out meekly in the semi-final stage of the CONCACAF champions cup after a 5-0 mauling at the hands of United States Major League Soccer (MLS) team DC United.

In addition to his duties with the premier league team, Hyde a former player, will also play the role of technical director as it relates to the team's Under-21 programme.

Club president Edward Seaga referred to Hyde as an outstanding figure in the arena of local football, and believes the addition of the experienced coach will push Tivoli, who finished runner-ups in last season's competition, over the top. The team's manager Brian Rose also echoed a similar sentiment

"His exposure with Portmore and Harbour View two of our main rivals will make him a valuable addition," he said.

"Being a former player he is also well respected at the club and he should fit into our plans quite well," he added.
Tivoli will begin the trial process for players interested in representing the team at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex beginning at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
