Whitmore: We're looking for more discipline
    Western Bureau:
Football in St James will be getting an opportunity to impress national coach Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore this afternoon when the national senior team battles a Seba All-Star aggregation in an exhibition match at Jarrett Park, starting at 7 p.m.
Prior to the big feature game, which is sponsored by Ward Power Tools, there will be a curtain raiser featuring a St James National Masters team against a Kingston Masters aggregation, starting at 5 p.m.
According to Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) vice-president and general secretary of the St James Football Association, Bruce Gaynor, the game, the first of its kind in the west for over a year, represents an opportunity for players to advertise their worth in a bid to attract national attention.
"The coach of the Seba United All-Stars team will have a difficult job in selecting a final 18-man squad from the 25 players he has in training." said Gaynor. "All the players are showing superb commitment and dedication to the task and they are all quality players."
    Qualifying tournament
The players on show for Seba All-Stars will come primarily from the group which is expected to represent the club in the Captain's Bakery Super League, which is a qualifying tournament for the Digicel Premier League elimination.
With regards to the national team, Gaynor said the squad, which includes Seba United's Deshawn Wollery, would feature the players recently invited to two training camps by coach Whitmore.
Whitmore recently stated that he would be staging exhibition games all around the island in a bid to keep the players in the national programme sharp, as well as to unearth new talent. While not much is known about the Kingston Masters team, which will contest the curtain-raiser, the St James side will feature Whitmore, alongside his former Reggae Boy teammates, Durrant 'Tatty' Brown, Warren Barrett, Devon Ricketts, Norman Foster and Paul 'Tegat' Davis.
