According to the article, Cavani made the second statement, not the first - go back and check if you like. Great example of journalistic hyperbole.

Again, don't confuse Rodgers ability as a coach with FSG's inability to finance the fans' aspirations. You are quick to give Rafa a break when he was "forced" to "sell to buy" and give KD all kinds of leeway when it comes to waaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssttttttttttttttttttiiiiiiii iiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggg £80m but not so lenient with Rodgers who has to work under far greater financial constraints than either of these predecessors. KMT.

As for your strategy Are you losing your freakin mind!!! Wheel and tun!!!!

Looking for an escape: Luis Suarez (Picture: Getty Images)Liverpool have been rocked by the revelation that Luis Suarez doesn’t rate Brendan Rodgers’ new signings as good enough to fire the club back into the Champions League.
The Reds, who finished 12 points behind fourth-place Arsenal last season, have added Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto, Kolo Toure and Simon Mignolet to their ranks this summer, but Suarez was seemingly unconvinced by the new arrivals prior to linking up with his club on their pre-season tour, and expressed his doubt over Liverpool’s ability to break back into the top four.
Edinson Cavani, who was on Confederations Cup duty this summer with Suarez, said: ‘We have been speaking a lot and, while I can’t tell you everything, I can tell you that he is desperate to start playing Champions League football.
‘Liverpool already know that, though, because he has told them.
Clsoe: Uruguay’s Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani (Picture: AP)‘I think if he thought Liverpool would qualify for Champions League football next season he would stay but, with the other top teams in England adding players, he doesn’t think Liverpool have the resources to break into the Champions League spots.
‘I have said before one of the most complete strikers in the world needs to be playing at the top level and I hope Liverpool understand that.
‘He doesn’t want to leave on bad terms because he respects the club and fans, but he needs to achieve his dreams in the game.’

I am nuts? LOL!!! Talk 'bout "pot" and "kettle"...what do you propose to do X? Change the ownership? Explain how we as fans can go about that... Don't damage your brain too much now...but come with a solution or else all you will be guilty of is demagoguery. The only thing that we can do is support the team and the manager...wishing for a Sheik is your prerogative, but as I have said before, Liverpool's current woes started when Moores and Rick "Coco the Clown" Parry sold the club to H&G instead of DIC. Very simple. Blaming BR for the club's situation is ridiculous. And no credit for a great little signing like Coutinho who scored a BEAUTY this morning.

Don't you see this would be the best thing to happen to the club? I told you a'ready that FSG not rich enough. If you want Silver, the only way to get it is to buy it, you can't apply 1989 football principles to today's markets. Football is a perfect metaphor for what is happening in the global world of business - the rich control things - the rest of us, no matter how honest, capable or competent, will never be given a fair shot at success as long as we are under capitalized. And of course, go ahead and risk what capital you have, for the rich are quickly there to make sure you not only fail, but take your money from you. Again, the ONLY sustainable model is the Arsenal model, every other club using shareholder or other debt to fund title and silverware aspirations is using an unsustainable model. It may not be this year, next year, the year after, but sooner or later, they will have to pay the piper. Some clubs (like Manu**), can afford their debt, especially with asset appreciation, but others, like City, are only kidding themselves. However, as long as City have their benefactor, they will be fine, if the Sheik gets bored and pulls his funds...then back to the Championship for them!

Henry and FSG deny claims they want to SELL Liverpool for £350m

Fenway Sports Group have rubbished reports they are ready to sell Liverpool.
A newspaper report on Friday night claimed that two American billionaires and a Saudi oil company had expressed interest in taking over from FSG, who it was claimed want £350million for their investment.
However, both FSG and Liverpool have strongly denied the story and the American owners, who have owned Liverpool since October 2010, have reiterated their commitment to Anfield.

Exit? According to a report in The Sun, Liverpool owner John Henry is ready to sell Liverpool

Cut their losses: Investors are said to be furious at the money wasted during their three-year tenure

A spokesperson from Fenway Sports Group said: 'Like so many rumours in the past about a sale of LIverpool Football Club, there is absolutely no truth in this.
'We have had no meetings with anyone about a sale, we don't know who the source of the rumour is, and any suggestion of a sale is fabrication.'
A Liverpool spokesperson added: 'Fenway Sports Group has made its position clear - Liverpool Football Club is not for sale. There is no truth in this story.'

Cutting their losses: Andy Carroll was sold at a huge loss to West Ham

Coincidence? The fact Luis Suarez is for sale is a statement of intent, according to one source

One of the suggestions in the report said that the prospect of selling Luis Suarez was an indication FSG's interest is waning but that is not true.
FSG are desperate to keep Suarez and have backed the stance manager Brendan Rodgers has adopted. After Arsenal made an offer of £40million and £1 for the Uruguay striker, Principal Owner John W Henry tweeted: 'What do you think they're smoking over there at Emirates?'
Some have questioned Henry's interest in Liverpool, given that he never attended a match at Anfield last season. His sole appearance on Merseyside was at the Hillsborough Memorial service on April 15.
FSG insist, though, they remain as committed as always and the last time he spoke to the English media, in Boston 12 months ago, Henry said the appointment of Rodgers and the backing of his plan was a sign they were 'just getting started'.

Happier times: Liverpool have hardly progressed in three years of ownership under Fenway Sports Group

My coach? No star! From time I have been trying to tell you but u ea's too dyam tough that BR is not the problem...the problem is that the owners are not rich enough. Football has been reduced to a game of riches, not football acumen or managerial talent. It is obvious with the ascendance of City, PSG, and now keep u eye dem pon Monaco. Our way back to the top of the prem is the same as everyone else's...deeper pockets. Sad, but true.

The only team doing it right and they are getting a cussing for it is Arsenal...when Chelskum, Mansh!ty, Manure and the rest of them run out of money, Arsenal will be the one team standing. Liverpool will be in ruin too if FSG don't quickly buy us a new stadium and start modeling Arsenal financially. BTW - did you see the crowd in Melbourne, Australia - 95,000 - signing YNWA? FSG don't freaking know what they have.

Arsenal prepare new bid for Luis Suárez as Liverpool stay silent on talks

    • Liverpool refused to discuss Thursday's meeting with Suárez

Arsenal are preparing to raise their offer once again for the Liverpool striker Luis Suárez as they seek to capitalise on perceived tensions between the player and his employer.

Suárez held talks over his future with the Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and the chief executive Ian Ayre on Thursday. The club's refusal to discuss how the meeting went has been interpreted by Arsenal as a positive sign for them. If Suárez had indicated any willingness to stay at Anfield, then Liverpool would have been expected to publicise it.

Arsenal's strategy when they made their second offer for Suárez of one pound over £40m on Tuesday was to put pressure on a clause in the Uruguayan's contract, which they were led to believe would permit him to open negotiations with them and, effectively, force the player's hand. They would love to see him agitate for the move, although a written transfer request may be too much for them to hope for.

Liverpool have refused to confirm whether Suárez asked to speak to Arsenal in the talks with Rodgers and Ayre since the £40,000,001 offer was received and rejected. However, they remain adamant that the disputed clause in Suárez's contract does not allow him to meet or open negotiations with Arsenal now that a bid of more than £40m has been made.

Liverpool have not granted Suárez permission to speak to Arsenal officials. The clause in the contract he signed last August, they insist, entitles Suárez to be informed of any bid over £40m and for Liverpool to enter into discussions over his transfer should they wish to do so.

Arsenal, whose opening offer for Suárez was worth £30m plus £5m in add-ons, are now ready to go higher, as they seek what would be a stunning coup. They have never previously paid more than £15m for a player. They are aware, though, that Liverpool will not countenance Suárez's sale unless there is a bid of more than £50m. Suárez scored 30 goals in Rodgers' debut season in charge and Liverpool's hopes of returning to the Champions League rest on him.

Real Madrid continue to lurk in the background, and they have indicated to Suárez's representatives that they have an interest in signing him. Their bank balance has been boosted by the £32m that they received from Napoli for the striker Gonzalo Higuaín, who was previously a target for Arsenal.

Arsenal, though, believe that they are in the driving seat for Suárez as Real are preoccupied by their pursuit of the Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale. Tottenham maintain that Bale is not for sale. Suárez is expected to play some part in Liverpool's friendly against Thailand in Bangkok on Sunday

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers does his best to explain why stalwart left the club

One thing Brendan Rodgers cannot be accused off is being media shy. The outspoken young Northern Irishman finds himself under the scanner on a weekly basis at Liverpool as he attempts to bring back the glory years for the club.

His latest media gaffe was his continuously conflicting positions on keeper Pepe Reina, and the rookie Liverpool Manager shared in a press conference on Thursday that the reason for his changing stance on the situation of the Spanish stopper was that he was “led to believe that we were going to get an offer for Pepe that would probably see him leave the club”.
Rodgers declared that he was as surprised as anyone else that a formal offer for Reina’s services did not arrive this summer despite all the rumours linking the Spaniard with a move away from Liverpool, and as a result his decision to bring in an extra keeper in Simon Mignolet left the Reds with two top class keepers, making one of them redundant, thus resulting in Reina’s loan move to Napoli.
Rodgers still hopes he will be able to sell Reina eventually, and has full faith in Mignolet’s ability to develop into a terrific long term prospect for the club.
