    Buying from our rivals: Watford

    By Andrew Flintoff

Looking at Watford, it is clear that a fantastic manager and a great team spirit prevail over individual class. For that reason, there are few players to whom Glenn Roeder could turn as we draw closer to the end of the transfer window.

One of those is ex-Nottingham Forest and Gillingham striker Marlon King, who impressed many last season with his 22 goals in all competitions for the Hornets, 21 of those in the league to help Watford to playoff success. The Jamaican international would make a useful squad member, as we head into the season with only Shola Ameobi and Obafemi Martins as out-and-out strikers.

For that very same reason, Darius Henderson is another player Glenn could look at to help bolster numbers. A fiery striker who scored 14 goals last season, including nine headers, and a penalty in the playoff final against Leeds at Cardiff, Henderson would add some much needed aerial ability to our very small forward-line.

And finally is young starlet Ashley Young, who is a pacy and tricky midfielder who made 41 appearances for the Hornets last season, scoring a mightily-impressive 14 goals. At home mainly on the right of midfield, Ashley also has a great eye for goal from free-kicks, and his skill and trickery would make a good replacement for Nobby Solano on the right of our sometimes-sluggish midfield.
