  • JFF summons ISSA

    November 4, 2009

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has called the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) to an emergency meeting to be held at the Offices of the Federation on Thursday November 5, at 11:30 am.
Thursday’s meeting will focus largely on the spate of violent incidents associated with the senior school boy competitions, the daCosta Cup for rural High schools and the Manning Cup which caters largely to urban High schools. Both competitions have been plagued by disturbing incidents the latest of which saw a parent invading the field to accost a child for what he believed was an unfair challenge on his son. This took place on Tuesday during the Manning Cup second round game between Jamaica College and Calabar High.
“While it is not our style or intention to micro-manage, as the body responsible for football in this country we cannot turn a blind eye to what is taking place right now. We will not allow indiscipline to permeate the sport of football and I want to direct ISSA to take the firmest disciplinary action necessary in this matter as it is clear that the warning sent a few weeks ago regarding the spate of indiscipline fell on deft ears. The Federation must be satisfied that all is being done to protect players, sponsors and all stakeholders at football games and the public will be kept informed accordingly" commented the JFF President, Captain Horace Burrell.

Solidarity is not a matter of well wishing, but is sharing the very same fate whether in victory or in death.
