Deputy Mayor of Montego Bay Michael Troupe was this afternoon offered bail in the sum of $500,000 in the Western Regional Gun Court.

Troupe, who is the councillor for the Granville Division in St. James, is charged jointly with his 21-year-old son, Jevaughn, for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Troupe is maintaining his innocence but his son has pleaded guilty to the charge.

Both are booked to return to court on Tuesday, July 31.

The Troupes were arrested at their home in Pitfour, Granville during an operation by the Lottery Scam Task Force in St. James on July 18.

The gun and cash amounting to J$380, 000 and US$10, 000 were seized from the residence.
