It's not a waste ,2and how do you know they have slowed down the spread if they arent testing ? 3rd if you have large scale positive test and people are asymptomatic, it could indicate immunity. Researchers would love to get a hold of those antibodies for a miracle vaccine or other life saving medical treatments.

Let's not forget, when NY started testing that's when numbers starting shooting up ,people were diagnosed and treated appropriately. People were being treated for preexisting conditions like asthma, copd, pneumonia with a septic combination , etc and dying because they were not testing. It's the reason why they are rushing to develop a cheaper faster test. You have to know your SBAR - situation ,background ,assessment and recommendation to treat any patient for any disease ,furthermore you want to be in control of it before it spirals out of control.

Believe me when I tell you more people have died than they are saying because of intentional misdiagnosing so resources can be shuffled around.

Ask yourself why is China,South Korea ,Europe and North America moving to wide scale testing .

Are you an idiot, this is common practice ?

It has been observed since ancient times that humans who recovered from some diseases were resistant (immune) to subsequent infection; a fundamental concept emerged from these observations that one could acquire protection from such diseases by contracting a variant that was already attenuate.1,2 The first well documented successful vaccine, which was against smallpox, was based on such a variant, and had several essential features, including (1) attenuation of the immunogen pathogenicity; (2) virus replication that resulted in persistency of immunogen exposure; (3) conservation of structures shared by the immunogen and the infecting virus; (4) antigenicity, e.g., binding to B cell receptors; and (5) endogenous adjuvants that contributed to its overall immunogenicity, i.e., ability to elicit immune responses. During the last two centuries, these properties were optimized for a number of vaccines that are now successfully used for prevention of 27 diseases, all caused by microbes.

Ja to boost testing capacity for COVID-19

As Jamaica records four more cases of COVID-19, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Jacquiline Bisasor-McKenzie says the National Public Health Laboratory will have the capacity to test for COVID-19 within the next two to three weeks.

Yesterday’s confirmed cases push Jamaica’s total to 30. The announcement was made by Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton at a press conference at Jamaica House.

The 14-day quarantine of sections of Bull Bay, St Andrew, ended last night, but Prime Minister Andrew Holness said that eight people would remain under quarantine.

The machine for testing has already been acquired and installation will begin on Monday.

Currently, testing is only being conducted at the National Influenza Centre.

Three thousand tests are available at the national centre, 250 of which have been used while 10,000 tests have been ordered for the second testing facility.

take a look at Germany's testing per 1000 persons...2.5 tests per thousand people...their death rate is a low 0.62%...Jamaica has the current capacity (within 2 weeks) to administer about 20,000 tests over the next couple months...that works out to 6.5 tests per thousand people...so what difference in testing are you referring to? are you saying germany (who has a firm grip on the spread of the virus) is not testing enough? you're a real simpleton...
