OCHO RIOS, St. Ann:

A work resumption formula was agreed on yesterday between the St. Ann Parish Council and representatives of the Pinero Group, developers of the Bahia Principe Hotel at Pear Tree Bottom, St. Ann.

Work is expected to resume at the site today following a one-week shutdown.

The meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Local Government, was presided over by the minster, Dean Peart.

Project manager for the Pinero Group, Jesus Castellanos Ortega, told The Gleaner that his company was given conditional approval to resume work.

    Metal supports

Mr. Ortega said that the conditions include the replacement of all wooden scaffolding around the building with metal ones. In addition, contractors are to desist from using wooden support shores when casting concrete decks.

Work was suspended last Wednesday following the collapse of a section of one of the buildings while workers were casting a concrete deck. One man was killed and fifteen others injured.
