PETERSFIELD, Westmoreland - Grange Hill continued their impressive early-season run by stopping previously unbeaten Petersfield 2-0 in their Zone C top-of-the-table clash at the Petersfield Community Centre on Wednesday.

Captain Janique Thomas in the fifth minute and second-half substitute Troy Titus in the 70th gave the Linval "Palla" Wilson-coached team their third win in the schoolboy daCosta Cup and increased their lead by three points.

Despite a muddy field and a constant drizzle in the second half, the game was one of the best in the region so far, featuring two well-coached teams that went on the attack from the onset.

Thomas scored from a powerful, curling shot from some 30 yards that beat goalkeeper Oshane Lewis and lodged in the roof of the net.

Titus, who replaced Andre Patterson in the second half, doubled the lead when his long-range shot fell just in front of Lewis, scooted through his legs and crossed the line.

Grange Hill are on 10 points from four games, while Petersfield are in second on goal difference ahead of champions Godfrey Stewart - both with seven points.
Godfrey Stewart won for the first time since opening day by edging Maude McLeod 2-1 in Darliston, thanks to a goal in each half from Davian Thorpe.

Meanwhile, national Under-20 invitee Richard Wilson scored four times and Moses Watkiss got a hat-trick as Munro College rebounded from Saturday's loss to swamp Maggotty High 7-0.

The result moved Munro to a point behind STETHS, who were held to a surprising 0-0 draw by Black River at home. STETHS, who lead the competition with 22 goals, were failing to score for the first time this season.
William Knibb moved to the top of Zone A after edging Cornwall College 2-1 in Falmouth and moved ahead of idle Herbert Morrison on goal difference. Both are on seven points - one more than Maldon, who were trounced 4-1 by St James High at Jarrett Park.

Ratcliff Hall with his second goal of the season and Cordel Simpson with his first gave William Knibb their second straight win after picking up just one point from their first two games.

James Thomas took his goal tally to eight after scoring twice in Glenmuir's 4-1 win over Central High. Trevol Smith and Mathew Ashman also got on The scoresheet.
Wednesday's results
Zone A
