The score was locked at 2-2 with a minute and a half remaining in stoppage time when Jamaica College's Ashani Walker edged one past the Wolmer's goalkeeper to send the 'Dark blues' 3-2 up and setting off wild celebrations and a massive field invasion by JC spectators.
Wolmer's goalkeeper Jason Lewis was down for almost 10 minutes as he claimed to have been hurt in the crush and was being tended to by officials.
There was a war of words between officials from both sides as Jamaica College official Ian Forbes claimed Lewis was faking his injury and that it was something he had done during the last encounter between the teams, which ended in a 1-1 draw at Heroes Circle two weeks ago.
Referee Carl Tyrell ruled the goal legal and ordered the teams to restart play, but Michael Francis refused to continue.
"I refused to play to protect the safety of my players," he told Sporting World.
Tyrell told Sporting World that school sports governing body, the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) will make a ruling on the game based on his match report.
One Wolmer's player had to be restrained as he was being escorted off the field as fighting threatened to erupt between the sides.
Earlier, the maroon-and-gold-clad-team, needing only a draw in the encounter to advance to the Walker Cup Knockout competition, went 1-0 up within a minute of play after Christopher Waugh took advantage of Jamaica College's defensive error to head one past Kirk Hamilton.
The visitors took the score to 2-0 in the 28th minute after Ateba Morgan's free-kick found its target as Wolmer's dominated the first half.
Jamaica College turned the tables at the start of the second half and Saeed Robinson scored their first goal of the match and his third of the season in the 52nd minute, less than a minute after Waugh made a shot on goal which was ruled off-side.
The Old Hope Road-based team levelled the score thanks to DeAndre Brown's free-kick from 40 yards out which resulted in jubilant celebration and a sea of blue-clad spectators invading the pitch.
At one point action was put on pause as Wolmer's custodian Lewis complained that he was being harassed by JC supporters to the back of his goal.
Meanwhile, Jamaica College principal Ruel Reid said the incident was an unfortunate reflection of the local culture.
"It's unfortunate bad culture of Jamaica when you have a game you invade the field when an incident occurs so we have to look at trying to change that culture going forward, but I think the game was being handled very well by the officials and it's so unfortunate that it ended in this abrupt manner," he told Sporting World.
