    DeCarteret snatch last quarter-final spot

BY PAUL A REID Observer Writer

MONTEGO BAY, St James — DeCarteret College of Mandeville took the last quarter-final spot in the ISSA/Digicel rural area schoolgirls netball competition as the Inter-zone round came to an end at the Montego Bay Cricket Club yesterday.

Yesterday’s games should have been played last Tuesday but were pushed back due to the inclement weather that affected the island.

DeCarteret beat Cambridge 26-11 in the Seniors category to complete the quarter-final match-ups that will be played at Brooks Park in Mandeville on December 6.

The win gave DeCarteret the runners-up spot in Group 1 behind Herbert Morrison Technical, who had a 40-11 win over Cedric Titus.

Herbert Morrison will now face Group 4 runners-up Holmwood in the first match in the quarter-finals, while DeCarteret will take on Edwin Allen High, the winners of Group 4.

In other Senior category match-ups, Mannings School, who beat Anchovy 33-14 yesterday to confirm their position as Group 2 winners, will play Group 3 runners-up Old Harbour High. Anchovy will face Group 3 winners Denbigh.

In the Juniors, Cambridge beat national champions Herbert Morrison 20-13 to take Group 2 honours and will now face-off with Tacius Golding in the quarter-finals.

Herbert Morrison will go up against Denbigh High for a place in the semi-finals on December 11.

Anchovy took Group 1 in the inter-zone after an easy 27-17 win over St Hilda’s High and booked a place against Glenmuir in the quarter-finals.

Bishop Gibson, the runners-up, will face Holmwood.
