Reserved spot for Team Jamaica Bickle at Penn Relays

    Tuesday, April 17, 2007

ORGANISERS of the Penn Relays have decided to reserve a section of the north grandstand of the Ben Franklin Stadium, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, for Team Jamaica Bickle (TJB), a New York Based independent outfit that has been providing for students/athletes from Jamaica and the Caribbean community.
The 113th running of the Penn Relays will take place from April 26 to 28, 2007, beginning at 9:00 am each day.
"If you are buying tickets for the Penn Relays this year, make sure you ask for the TJB section on the north side, next to the finish line," Irwin Clare, Sr, founder/president of the TJB said.
"There will be lots of prizes, surprises and give-aways and warm Jamaica hospitality in this section throughout the relays," Clare added, noting that the section could seat some 500 persons.
According to Clare, corporate partners Caribbean Food Delights, Royal Caribbean Bakery and Jerk Qzine would, for the 11th year running, be the official providers of meals to the more than 300 athletes and officials expected from Jamaica and the Caribbean region.
The organisers will take the time to recognise the outstanding contribution of Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS) to the development of athletics in Jamaica, particularly for sponsoring the national boys' and girls' championships for 15 years.
The Consulate General of Jamaica at 767 Third Avenue, Manhattan, will host the TJB press reception of the Penn Relays on Wednesday.
