With two of the last three daCosta Cup champions coming from the parish, Westmoreland has quietly been making an impact on the national football landscape. 
Both Frome Technical, champions in 2003 and last year’s winners, Godfrey Stewart High, have appeared in all the important games — opening games, semi-finals and finals — in the past four seasons. 
Frome beat William Knibb Memorial in the 2003 finals then opened the next season by beating Rusea's High in 2004 before losing to Glenmuir in the finals later that season. 
Last year, Godfrey Stewart won two memorable games at Jarrett Park, the daCosta Cup semi-finals against Clarendon College then the finals against the previous year’s champions Glenmuir. 
In last Saturday's opening game of the 2006 season, Godfrey Stewart prevailed against Mannings in a game they could have lost. 
Added to the mix last season, Mannings School, one of the oldest schools in the island, went on an extended run all the way to the semi-finals, setting up what could be a good rivalry for years to come. 
Grange Hill High and Petersfield High have also had their share of success in the past few seasons, and while not going as far as the other three, have been consistent in advancing to the inter-zone round. 
President of the Westmoreland Football Association (WFA), Everton Tomlinson, would wish the success of the teams from his parish were not so quiet. 
He will tell anyone who cares to listen that the success of the teams from the parish is not by accident but is due in part to a youth programme they had put in place some years ago. It is this system, he said, that has seen the dramatic improvement in the fortunes of the teams in the parish.
If the WFA is able to maintain this programme for at least the next five years, there is no telling how much the game can improve in the parish. </DIV> <DIV class=HTMLImage></DIV>

Is it something of the WFA's making?

As some one from Westmoreland (even though you big up Munro more) here are Everton's numbers- 471-3689/ 334-3969.

Call him up nuh and offer to help the programme instead of posturing on the internet and asking all kinds of idiotic questions and making statements you cant back up.

For the past few years, the WFA have been having weekend camps and sessions with coaches in regions- irresespective of schools and clubs and that is why we see the fruits coming out now.

St James have done this from time to time and we see where it has borne fruit at least in the school systems.

How come I dont hear you questioning the KSAFA success when it is abundantly clear that Wagga Hunt and his club Meadheaven has had much more success than all the other clubs including Santos and Boys Town put together in the past few years.

Karl, some times it is best to sit back and ask questions instead of jumping to conclusions.
