Jamaica whip Antigua &Barbuda 6-1

Jamaica crushed Antigua & Barbuda 6-1 in their first-leg second round Caribbean Football Union Under-17 World Cup qualifier at the Harbour View mini-stadium in Jamaica on Sunday.

Two goals from Steven Morrissey (9th, 13th) and one each from Donovan Miller (3rd), Marlon Benbow (53rd), Seon Givans (68th) and second-half substitute, Orlando Dorma (87th), ensured Jamaica's victory while Antigua & Barbuda's consolation effort came from Clifford Samuels in the 25th.


"We are now basically looking forward to the next round,” said Coach Patrick Walters. “ So even though it will be difficult for them (Antigua and Barbuda) to score seven goals against us in the return leg, we have to ensure that we keep the momentum going in order to be ready for the next stage of the competition.”Jamaica play Antigua and Barbuda in the return leg on October 20.

 Strikers and Barbican to fight for Women’s title

Defending champions, Portmore Strikers, and pre-season favourites, Barbican, will meet in the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF)/Sherwin Williams Women's League final after contrasting semifinal results on Saturday.

Barbican advanced after beating Harbour View 3-1 for a 6-1 aggregate, while Portmore Strikers, despite losing 1-0, qualified 5-1 on aggregate.
At Barbican, national under-19 player, Kim Dunn, set up all three goals - two for Tanisha Francis and one for Jody-Ann McGregor - as the hosts got the better of Harbour View.
Shamar Andrews scored for the visitors.
At UDC field in Montego Bay, Shawna Virgo's first-half strike proved insufficient for the home team.

 Hazard United lead Premier League

Hazard United turned up the heat on Wadadah on Sunday in the Wray and Nephew Premier League, blasting the Montego Bay aggregation 4-1 to go atop with nine (9) points.

In other games played on Sunday, defending champions Arnett Gardens clipped Waterhouse 2-1, Rivoli drew 1-1 with Constant Spring, Seba achieved their first win, a 1-0 victory over Tivoli Gardens, Village beat Bull Bay 1-0 and Habour View were held to a 0-0 tie by Reno.

Below are the points standings are four rounds of matches:

Hazard United – 9 points, Village United – 8, Rivoli United – 7, Arnett Gardens – 7, Harbour View –7, Tivoli Gardens – 6, Waterhouse – 4, Constant Spring 4, Seba 4, Bully Bay 4, Reno 2, Wadadah –1.

 JFF/Under 21 League:

Hazard 2 Wadadah 0, Arnett Gardens 0 Waterhouse 0,

Rivoli 0 Constant Spring 0, Seba 3 Tivoli Gardens 3, Village United 0 Bull Bay 0, Harbour View 2 Reno 2.

Arnett Gardens, Seba and Hazard lead the points standings with 7, followed by Waterhouse on 5, Tivoli and Village on 3, Harbour View, Reno, Constant Spring, Bull Bay and Rivoli on 2 and Wadadah on 1 point.

 

Women’s Friendly Internationals cancelled

The two Friendly Internationals between Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago have been cancelled. The games, which were to be used as preparation for the CONCACAF Woman’s Gold Cup, were scheduled to be held on October 9 and 11. However, the TTFA has advised the JFF that it is are unable to host Jamaica as Trinidad and Tobago country are now in General election mode. The election 'took' place on October 7.
