Jamie Lawrence was born in London, England and started
playing soccer professionally at Sunderland in 1993.style='mso-spacerun: yes'>
Lawrence though having pledged his international allegiance to Jamaica, has still, due to various reasons, only made one appearance for the Reggae Boyz. This was on February 28th, 2001 against Trinidad and Tobago, in a World Cup qualifier. After being initially drafted into the Jamaican squad, Jamie was unceremoniously dropped by the Jamaica
Football Federation (JFF) because of questions that arose surrounding his past transgressions. He, however, was reinstated after the Jamaican public
voiced their displeasure over the handling of his case by the JFF. style='mso-spacerun: yes'>
Jamie currently plays for Bradford City of the English
Premier League, having got his start with Sunderland, before moving on to Doncaster
and then Leicester City. At Bradford, Lawrence occasionally plays the
midfield, but is often times used as a wingback. He is an attacking and hardworking player, and though not overly skilled, will not hesitate to dribble if given the space.
Jamie’s awareness and alertness in and around the midfield and defense should
serve him and his country well.
