William Wilson-Former-Player squad William Wilson was a relative unknown to many Jamaicans when he was extended an invitation by the coaching staff of the Jamaican national senior team to train with the squad, just before the second round of World Cup qualifying got underway.

The player, who also answers to the name 'Wicked', hails from the lovely parish of St. Mary and attended St. Mary’s High School and St. Georges College in Kingston, before furthering his studies in the United States, at the Wesleyan University. Though not as well known as a number of his more senior teammates, Wilson in actuality, represented Jamaica at various youth levels before being called to the senior team. He turned out for Jamaica at the Under-14, Under-16 and Under-20 levels. He even played for the Under-23 on three occasions. Thankfully, though, he is back and based on the few games that he has played, the fans should be seeing a lot more of him.

'Wicked,' after playing in a CONCACAF tournament in 1996, beat out such players as Jorge Campos and Blanco, both of Mexico to win the Most Outstanding Player award. He was even selected to an all CONCACAF Select Team in 1995/1996 but somehow never manage to force his way, until now, into the Reggae Boyz senior squad.

'Wicked' is a competent player with the ball at his feet, but it is his ability to string passes and shoot accurately from distance that makes him a quality addition to any team. His club career has seen him play in the US Division-1 Connecticut League for the Connecticut Wolves (A-League), and the Columbian Premier League for club team Milianaros. He also had a successful trial with Nottingham Forrest, but was unable to gain a work permit because of his limited international appearance for Jamaica.

Wilson was offered a free open scholarship to Oxford University, and has had offers from Columbia University and the University of Miami, but instead decided to concentrate on football at this time as the game is his obvious first passion.
