Barry Hayles-Former-Player squad Barry Hayles is a Lambeth, England-born striker, who after trying for sometime without any success, finally got his wish to play international soccer for Jamaica. In February two thousand, he donned the now famous black, green and gold and came on as a second half sub in a World Cup Qualifying game against Trinidad and Tobago in Kingston, Jamaica. His performance was very encouraging, as he showed good dribbling and ball control technique, along with one and one skills, that is so admired by the passionate Jamaican crowd.

Barry started his football career at Conference side Stevenagae, scoring a number of goals, then quickly moved into the professional ranks when he signed with Bristol Rovers in June 1977, and continued his goal-scoring spree by scoring twenty-six goals for the club in his first season there. However, he was not to remain there for long as he was quickly snatched up for two million pounds by first division side Fulham. His nineteen goals last season helped Fulham gain promotion to the English Premier League, and in his first Premiership game, he scored his first Premier League goal and seem set to score a few more before the season comes to an end.

Hayles is a busy player, with a lot of speed and good ball skills, making him very difficult for opposing defenders to contain. A player with an eye for goal, a proven goal scorer, who will be parading his talent in the top English League all season, Barry is a welcome addition to the Jamaican National Team.
