Jermaine Hue
-Senior squad
Jermaine Hue is a skillful midfield visionary with the ability to dominate games with his accurate defense-splitting passes. Hue came into prominence under the watchful eyes of then technical director, Brazilian Rene Simoes, during the 1998 World Cup qualifying campaign. Hue was being groomed as one for the future Reggae Boyz 'midfield general' position.
With the departure of Rene Simoes, Sabastino Lazzaroni, another Brazilian, assumed the role as Reggae Boyz technical director. In his brief stint at the helm of the country's football, Lazzaroni recognized the talent of Hue and consistently built his midfield thrust around the crafty young player.
With the sudden exodus of Lazzaroni, Hue went through a spell where he did not seem to fit into the plans of another Brazilian, Clovis de Olivera, who assumed the role of technical director. De Olivera went through the entire World Cup 2002 qualifying campaign without giving a call to Hue.
Jamaican Carl Brown was next to assumed the role of technical director after the impromptu exit of de Olivera. Brown, in charge of the national programme continued to try different combinations in midfield, without giving a call to Hue.
Many fans were constantly asking why is it that Hue not getting a call. Eventually, Brown included Hue in a squad to play Barbados in a friendly international at the National Stadium, in Kingston on March 23, 2003. According to Brown 'Jermaine is a good player, I just hope that not being in the national programme for some time, would have made something click in 'Jerry's' head and that he is now ready to play for the national team... he has done well locally and we hope he can transfer it into the international arena,'.
Fans who know of Hue's prowess as a midfield maestro are now looking forward to his exploits at the national team level and hope he can deliver consistently, so he is kept in the plans of technical director Brown.
