INTERNATIONAL CAPS:

CURRENT CLUB: Hazard (NPL)

PREVIOUS CLUBS: Olympic Gardens FC (NPL), Bodles (St. Catherine Div 1)

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Liverpool, Manchester United

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS: Electrical Engineering

FAVOURITE ARTIST:

PROFILE: An exceptional player who is destined to ply his trade in the best leagues in the World. His excellent work ethic and a mild manner will endear Wolry to any coach. He progressed through the ranks of the St. Catherine Parish youth ranks playing at Under-12 up to Under-17 levels. His technical ability is better than most players in Jamaica and his vision and passing is reminiscent of a Hector Wright.  He is a left footed, goal scoring midfielder, who scored 14 goals as he assisted Jonathon Grant to lift the schoolboy Walker Cup trophy in 1999. Technical Director de Oliviera has experimented with him in the left wing back position with great success. Wolry is a exceptional dribbler who utilises change of pace to beat opponents rather than fancy footwork. He rarely loses possession of the ball and is an ideal utility player. The future looks promising for this talented player

NAME: Keith Kelly

ALIAS: Fire

DOB: March 5, 1983

FAVOURITE ARTIST:

PROFILE: A tireless worker in the middle of the park. Keith Kelly is a typical " midfield terrier", constantly snapping at the heels of opponents. As a schoolboy he represented Wolmers Boys School for two seasons scoring 15 goals in his first season. Scouts spotted his vast potential at the recent Olympic Qualifiers held in Mexico, where Kelly was a lone bright spark in a below par performance by Jamaica. He was duly rewarded with a trial in France with prestigious club Paris St. Germain. Unlike many of his countrymen, Keith overcame a toe injury to impress the PSG staff and is close to being rewarded with a professional contract with the club.

NAME: Sean Frasier

ALIAS: Matterhorn

DOB: February 15, 1983

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS:

FAVOURITE ARTIST:

PROFILE: Sean Frasier is a product of the Harbour View F.C youth development system, joining the club at age 10. He has represented his hometown club at all youth levels. He forced his way into the Premier League winning squad but spent all his time on the reserve bench. Sean made his debut for the senior club team in 2000 preseason friendly versus Nottingham Forest in the USA. He is a tall, gangly right-sided midfielder who loves to shoot from distance. His displays at Minor (Youth) Club level earned him a call to the National Under-17 team where he played in all the qualifying games and in the 1999 World Cup in New Zealand. Sean is developing as a player but is stifled by an inexplicable lack of first team appearances for his club, despite earning a National Senior Cap in a 6-0 victory against Cayman Islands.

NAME: Eshaya Bryan

ALIAS:

DOB: March 15, 1982

POSITION: Central Midfield

INTERNATIONAL CAPS:

CURRENT CLUB: Hazard United (NPL)

PREVIOUS CLUBS: Marvaley-Hughenden (A-League), Cooreville Gardens FC (Syd Bartlett League)

ACHIEVEMENTS:

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Theodore Whitmore, Denis Bergkamp

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS:

PROFILE: Eshaya is a new comer to the National level. He impressed the technical staff at the youth level and was invited to train with the Senior Team. He came on as a substitute during an exhibition game versus St. Ann Parish All Stars. Eshaya is a midfielder who prides himself on his passing ability and is working on improving his tackling and long range shooting with the aim of forging a professional career in football. Beneath the frail physical structure lies a fearless heart and with physical development and strength training he can become a fulcrum in the Jamaica midfield.

NAME: Kevin King

ALIAS: Benji

DOB: February 3, 1982

POSITION: Left or Right Wing Back

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: U20 and U17

CURRENT CLUB: Santos (KSAFA Major League)

PREVIOUS CLUBS: Rockfort U14

SCHOOL BOY FOOTBALL: Camperdown

ACHIEVEMENTS: U17 Youth World Cup

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Ricardo Fuller, Rivaldo

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Manchester United

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS:

FAVOURITE ARTIST: Spragga Benz

PROFILE: Kevin is a product of one of Kingston’s traditional clubs, Santos United. Kevin carries the weight of revival of this sleeping giant club, which currently languishes in the Kingston and St. Andrew Major League. The young wingback has responded by scoring 17 goals in Major League competition for the club he joined at age 12. He began a modest school boy football career playing Pepsi (Under-14) and Colts (Under-16) and finally at the Manning Cup (Under-19) level where he found the back of the net 5 times in his first three seasons for Camperdown High School. However, he has discovered a fine goal scoring form, which sees him leading the race for top goal-scorer in the current 2000 School Boy Football season with 15 goals.  His club form earned him a call to the National Under 17 team, which qualified for the 1999 Youth World Cup.

NAME: Shane Stevens

ALIAS: Babatunde

DOB: March 10, 1982

POSITION: Defender

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: 1 (Senior) vs Cayman Is. Aug 2000, Under-17, U20

CURRENT CLUB: Arnett Gardens (NPL)

PREVIOUS CLUBS:

SCHOOL BOY FOOTBALL: Clarendon College, Charlie Smith

ACHIEVEMENTS: 1999 U17 Youth World Cup

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Linval “Rudi” Dixon, Jaap Stam

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Florentina

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS:

FAVOURITE ARTIST: Sanchez

PROFILE: Shane is a youth prodigy. He is physically well developed. This strong, tall, no-nonsense defender is the "hardman" of the defensive line. Shane is an excellent reader of the game and tackles with immaculate timing. He seems uninterested but this is to the detriment of attackers who mistake the deliberate movements for a lack of pace. Shane uses his long strides to cover ground and is very rarely beaten. He is a good header of the ball and is comfortable with the ball at his feet. He has been called to train with the senior team giving a clear indication where his future lies. Shane formed an excellent partnership with Alex Thomas and Loren Sailsman, in the Under 17 World Cup team, both of whom are absent from this squad for differing reasons. He is still adapting to playing in this new back line. Shane was one of the first youth players invited to train with the National Senior Team by T.D. de Oliviera and played in an exhibition game against Clarendon Parish All Stars. His performance earned him his senior debut against Cayman Islands in August, 2000. If Shane remains focussed and improves his discipline he could find a future in professional football.

NAME: Sheldon Battiste

ALIAS: Batistuta

DOB: March 10, 1982

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Winston Griffiths, Onandi Lowe, Zinadine Zidane

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Juventus

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS: Business Administration

FAVOURITE ARTIST: Bounty Killer

PROFILE: Sheldon is a very disciplined man marker. An agile, physical defender who has earned a starting place in the Under-20 line-up, graduating from making a substitute appearance in the U17 World Cup in New Zealand.  Sheldon has earned over 28 caps at Under 17 National level and we continue to watch his development as he develops an understanding with his defensive colleagues.

NAME: Robert Haughton

ALIAS: Ginger

DOB: November 23, 1981

POSITION: Defender

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: Under-20

CURRENT CLUB: Reno FC (NPL) transfer pending

PREVIOUS CLUBS: Westland (A-League)

SCHOOL BOY FOOTBALL: Munro College, Knox College

ACHIEVEMENTS:

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Onandi Lowe, Ronaldino, Deigo Maradonna

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Vasco Da Gama

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS:

FAVOURITE ARTIST: Bounty Killer

PROFILE: Robert is a physical defender who tackles well and has a good understanding of the game. Despite his inexperience at the National level he has great potential and should flourish once he develops his confidence and wins the trust of his teammates. He is a quiet youngster and a devoted Christian who aims to draw his strength from his spiritual background. Robert is an all round athlete competing in table tennis and lawn tennis. His all round attitudes see him as a utility player. He suffered a set back in his club football career, while on a three goal scoring streak for Westland in the National A-League, when the team was suspended from all National Competitions in 1999. He graduated from Knox College where he played three seasons of daCosta Cup football without any spectacular achievement. He moved to the prestigious St. Elizabeth institution, Munro College, where he wears the Captain’s armband. With that responsibility “Ginger” set about leading Munro College to the second phase of the rural schoolboy football competition.  His stellar contributions as part of the miserly Munro defence brought him to the attentions of the National Youth technical staff and he was invited to travel to Brazil and participate in the two-week camp. He gave a good account of himself and should prove an able deputy to the starters.

NAME: Fabian Blake

ALIAS: Lexus

DOB: January 16, 1982

POSITION: Midfielder

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: Under-20

SCHOOL BOY FOOTBALL: Frome Technical

ACHIEVEMENTS: Westmoreland Div 1 Championship

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Theodore Whitmore, Wolry Woolfe, Ronaldo

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Flamengo (Brazil)

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS: Enjoys woodcraft

FAVOURITE ARTIST: Beenie Man

PROFILE: Fabian hails from Burnt Savannah, Westmoreland in the western end of the island. He is a tall, rangy midfielder who has been used occasionally by T.D. de Oliviera as a forward.  ‘Lexus’ has repaid the faith of the coach by scoring in an international vs. Brazil in October 2000 in Brazil. He is a rural schoolboy footballer, whose achievements include reaching the DaCosta Cup quarterfinals in 1996 scoring five goals in the process. In the current schoolboy competition he has continued his goal scoring vein netting five times in seven games. In club football he turned out for local outfit Blackness and was part of their championship winning team. His exploits caught the attention of the staff of Premier League club Reno and he has had two seasons at this rural giant. Fabian prides himself on his dribbling and aims to emulate his local hero “the magician” Theodore Whitmore. The jury is out on the youngster as he tries to fill the big boots of Tappa.

NAME: Omar Rowen Daley

ALIAS: Ratty (Rat)

DOB: April 25, 1981

POSITION: Central Midfielder

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: 1 (Senior), U20

CURRENT CLUB: Hazard F.C (NPL)

PREVIOUS CLUBS: Value P (St. Elizabeth Div 1), Central Strikers and Isreal (Clarendon Div 1)

SCHOOL BOY FOOTBALL: Glenmuir

ACHIEVEMENTS: 19999/2000 St. Elizabeth Div 1 Championship

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Winston Griffiths, Bebeto

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Manchester United

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS: Music

FAVOURITE ARTIST: Beenie Man

PROFILE: Omar burst into prominence after he was called to the National Senior squad that toured Cayman Islands. and impressed while playing in an exhibition game for a Clarendon All Star XI vs. the National Team. Rat plays in central midfield and is growing under the guidance of coach de Oliviera. An aggressive midfielder he is prone to yellow cards but that aggression is the stand out aspect of his game along with his good dribbling skills and midfield work ethic. He is also a capable goal scorer and has decent long range shooting with both feet.  He began his football career at Glenmuir High School and was largely ignored by the bigger clubs in his home parish. He played with Central Strikers and Israel, a decent outfit from Monymusk in Clarendon. Omar went outside Clarendon in search of his footballing dreams and landed at Value P, a new club with lots of money that was aiming for the top. Unfortunately, Value P fell at the final hurdle. Needing only a draw to qualify for the National A-League they lost and the ambitious midfielder headed home to play for newly promoted Premier League outfit Hazard United. Omar is well respected by his teammates many of whom look up to him for leadership. He is also a firm fan favourite and an integral piece of the midfield jigsaw puzzle with Kelly, Wolfe and Frasier. Omar is definitely destined for bigger things.

NAME: Garfield Rennick

ALIAS: Richie Blinds

DOB: June 3, 1982

POSITION: Utility

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: Under-20

CURRENT CLUB: Arnett Gardens (NPL)

PREVIOUS CLUBS:

SCHOOL BOY FOOTBALL: Charlie Smith

ACHIEVEMENTS:

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Byron Earle, Deigo Maradonna

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Liverpool, Real Madrid and Chelsea

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS: Coach football in his community

FAVOURITE ARTIST:

PROFILE: Garfield is an attack-minded utility player who operates on the right wing. He is a diminutive player who runs well off the ball to create space.  This promising young player has been utilised as a forward by both club and country. He was called to the Under 17 squad in 1997 but did not make the team admittedly due to his attitude. To his credit “Richie Blinds” has turned over a new leaf and is training hard to improve his speed and technique. Hailing from the inner city community of Jones Town in Kingston, he is a beacon who acts as a mentor to some of the younger members in his community. He now plays his football for his hometown side Arnett Gardens and has coped well with the strong, intense partisan supporters of this perennial underachiving club. He endeared himself to local fans by scoring a spectacular goal from an acute angle against bitter rivals Tivoli Gardens away from home.

NAME: Craig Gordon

ALIAS: Cayman

DOB: February 12, 1983

POSITION: Forward

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: Under-20, Under-17

CURRENT CLUB: Reno United(NPL)

PREVIOUS CLUBS: Invaders (St. Ann’s League)

SCHOOL BOY FOOTBALL: Marcus Garvey Technical

ACHIEVEMENTS: 1999 U17 Youth World Cup

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Harold Hemmings, Keith Kelly and Pavel Nedved

FAVOURITE CLUBS:

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS: Own a business

FAVOURITE ARTIST:

PROFILE: Craig hails from the tourist town of Ochi Rios in the non-traditional footballing parish of St. Ann on the North Coast of Jamaica. As a forward he came to National prominence by displaying sound technical ability rather than any record-breaking goal scoring feats. This is ironic for a player who prides himself on his finishing and work rate, although he scored thirteen goals in three seasons in daCosta Cup football. During this period, his school managed to reach the quarterfinal round of the competition. Craig was rewarded with a place on the bench of the National U17 team and made a couple of substitute appearances including a memorable one in the Youth World Cup against Paraguay.  Craig ignored St. Ann’s bigger clubs Black Stars and Brazil, which play in the A-League, and was lured by his friend and fellow U17 teammate Kingsley Brown to join Reno F.C. in Westmoreland in the National Premier League.  It is a great testament to Craig’s dedication and discipline that he travels over two hundred miles by bus to train and play in the highest league in the land.

NAME: Damion Williams

ALIAS: Capo

DOB: April 23, 1981

POSITION: Attacking Midfield

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: Under-20

CURRENT CLUB: Waterhouse F.C (NPL)

PREVIOUS CLUBS: Meadhaven (KASAFA Syd Bartlett (Div 2) League)

SCHOOL BOY FOOTBALL: Norman Manley

ACHIEVEMENTS: Won Syd Bartlett League with Meadhaven in 1996/97

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Onandi Lowe, Shavar Thomas and Bebeto (Brazil)

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Florientina

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS: Woodwork and craft

PROFILE: Damion is a diminutive attacking player with a big heart and has been mixing it with the “big boys” in the Premier League for the past two seasons with top Kingston club, Waterhouse “Firehouse”. He scored one goal last season for Waterhouse coming off the bench and is a firm favorite of the partisan and fanatical supporters of “Firehouse”. A player with good passing skills, he has been given the all-important attacking link role in National U20 midfield. He began his football career, like many Jamaican stars, playing in the prestigious schoolboy competitions. “Capo” played two seasons for Norman Manley aiding them to the latter stages of the Manning Cup competition with ten goals in his second season.

NAME: Dwayne Richards

ALIAS: Boukie

DOB: January 11, 1982

POSITION: Forward

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: 6 (Senior), Under-20, Under-17

CURRENT CLUB: Hazard United (NPL)

PREVIOUS CLUBS: Shortwood United (KASAFA Major (Div 1) League)

SCHOOL BOY FOOTBALL:

ACHIEVEMENTS: 1999 U17 Youth World Cup

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Onandi Lowe, Tyrone Marshall and Batistuta (Arg)

FAVOURITE CLUBS: F.C Roma

FAVOURITE ARTIST:

PROFILE: Dwayne Richards is a skilful forward with a bag of tricks earning him the title of the new Walter ‘Pearl’ Boyd. This is not a simple accolade from local supporters who revere the Pearl, as Dwayne's spectacular displays have made him a firm crowd favourite. The diminutive forward combines this sublime skill and hard running with a propensity for the spectacular goal. He was a starter on the Jamaican Under-17 team throughout the Under-17 World Cup in New Zealand, and impressed TV analysts with his technical ability and skill. He also caught the eyes of the Newcastle United scouting team although no offer came to fruition. On the local scene, Boukie continued to impress in the KASAFA Major League, helping his club Shortwood United to the brink of promotion to the A-League. His spectacular strikes in the semi-finals caught the eye of then Technical Director Lazaroni, who drafted Boukie into the National Team and gave him several caps under his ill-fated 5-match stint in charge. Boukie is yet to score at senior international level, and although he has given creditable performances the young striker has fell down the pecking order with the return of Lowe, Boyd and Burton.

Unlike many of Jamaica’s footballers, Dwayne did not participate in any School Boy competition although he attended two traditional footballing institutions, Calabar High School and St. Andrew Technical High School. He did, however, give an early indication to his footballing career scoring eighteen goals for Duhaney Park Primary School in the Corporate Area football competition. Due to his near superstar status many pundits express the view that the sooner Boukie leaves Jamaica and ply his craft in a professional league the better it will be for the player. Dwayne is one of the young footballers whose youth football was spent in the Simoes era, and if he remains focused and disciplined he could one day grace the World Cup Stage.

NAME: Andrew Stewart

ALIAS: Eggy

DOB: July 1, 1981

POSITION: Forward

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: Under-20

CURRENT CLUB: Reno United (NPL)

PREVIOUS CLUBS: Value P  (St. Elizabeth Div 1)

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Theodore Whitmore, Craig Gordon, Zinadine Zidane (Fra.)

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Manchester United

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS: Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

FAVOURITE ARTIST: Beenie Man

PROFILE: Andrew was drafted into the Under-20 squad based on his goal scoring feats in the St. Elizabeth Division 1 League, where he notched up six goals while forming a partnership with National U23 striker Markino Gillings. He has been a consistent goal scorer in his three seasons in the daCosta Cup competition, notching up nine strikes in his first two seasons. However, in the 2000 season he blasted twelve goals to spearhead the STETHS daCosta Cup quest. This along with his dribbling skills alerted the attention of western Jamaica’s rural giants Reno F.C. who drafted the young striker this season after Value P stumbled at the last hurdle in a bid to gain promotion from the regional league to the National A-League. Andrew hails from a sporting family of three brothers and a sister. His sister represents Mannings High School of Savanna-La-Mar, Westmoreland at netball. His mentor and National Youth Coach Wendell Downswell and his friend Parnell keep him motivated.

NAME: Christopher Hayles

ALIAS: Coo-coo man

DOB: October 20, 1982

POSITION: Defender

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: UNDER-20

CURRENT CLUB: Hazard United (NPL)

PREVIOUS CLUBS:

SCHOOL BOY FOOTBALL: Jonathon Grant

ACHIEVEMENTS:

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Onandi Lowe, Omar Daley, Marcell Desailly (Fra)

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Manchester United

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS:

FAVOURITE ARTIST: Papa San (Gospel)

PROFILE: Christopher is an all round defender who is comfortable playing at sweeper, wingback or central defence. He has been drafted in as an understudy for sweeper and team Captain Shavar Thomas.  A sprinter in his early school days, he combines blistering pace with good tackling ability and positional play. He hails from Windsor Road community in Spanish Town and is a devote Christian. This is his first National call and other Christian players Sean Frasier and Ezra Prendegras have helped him settle into the squad quickly. Chris developed his footballing skills while representing Jonathon Grant for six years at every level of schoolboy football. He was part of the squad that help Hazard United gain promotion to the Premier League and is currently in his second season with that club.

NAME: Christopher Nicholas

ALIAS: Kemo Ras

DOB:

POSITION: Forward

INTERNATIONAL CAPS: UNDER-20, Under-17

CURRENT CLUB: Tivoli Gardens F.C (NPL)

PREVIOUS CLUBS: Value P  (St. Elizabeth Div 1)

SCHOOL BOY FOOTBALL: Tivoli Gardens Comprehensive High

ACHIEVEMENTS: 97/98 Premier League Championship, Ken Mathis Under-14, Minor (Youth) League

FAVOURITE PLAYERS: Theodore Whitmore, Craig Gordon, Zinadine Zidane (Fra.)

FAVOURITE CLUBS: Manchester United

HOBBY/ CAREER AMBITIONS: Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

FAVOURITE ARTIST: Beenie Man

PROFILE: What else can be said about Christopher Nicholas.... phenomenon, sensational, borderline genius. A fearsome looking well-built striker who plays well with his back to the goal, kicks powerfully and accurately with both feet, dribbles well, has the ability to hold up the ball and is never easily dispossessed. In effect, Chris was the complete striker with a bright future at the tender age of fifteen. His burly figure running at defenders frightened the living daylights out of schoolboy defenders as he notched up an impressive goal scoring record with three goals in his first season, nine and twelve goals respectively in his following two seasons.  He was called up to the National Under-17 team and responded by simply overrunning defence. In his final two seasons in Manning Cup football for Tivoli Comprehensive High, Kemo rocketed in thirty goals. He jumped straight into the National Under-20 team and formed a formidable partnership with Ricardo Fuller and Kevin Deer. The team advanced to the final qualifying round after embarrassing the Caribbean opposition with basketball score lines 12-0, 13-0.

Chris had graduated through the youth ranks of his local club Tivoli Gardens F.C winning the Ken Mathis KASAFA Under-14 Club League and the KASAFA Under-16 Minor (Youth) League under the watchful eyes of Coach Dave Clarke. In 1998, he finally broke into the Premier League into the starting line-up, as Coach Clarkepaired him upfront with another teenage prodigy Ricardo Fuller to create a lethal strike force around which he fashioned a Premier League Championship winning side. As in schoolboy football, Chris shwed disdain for the Premier League established strikers and steam rolled his way to bagging twelve goals.

Chris Nicholas has not made the progress he could in his career so far, because he has been plagued with injuries. He lost his chance for a National Senior team call up when he broke his leg and was out of competition for a year. This meant that the promising striker had to miss the Under-17 Youth World Cup in New Zealand in 2000. No sooner had he returned from injury, he was injured again. The youngster has become frustrated with constant injuries at crucial times in his career, his latest in October 2000 while playing a Premier League match. Christopher was invited to train with the National Senior Team and played an exhibition game against St. Ann Parish XI. However, he failed to impress as he was overweight and way short of match fitness after returning from injury. Football experts rate Kemo as a player with an immense amount of potential. It is thought that if he maintains the right attitude and discipline, the future will be very bright for this player.
