We've Got Our Trophy Back!
On Sunday May 18 2003, Manchester United held the Premiership Trophy aloft once more. A remarkable achievement, eight championships in eleven years. Sir Alex Ferguson is truly one of the greatest managers in football. United's season got off to a rocky start with injuries and mixed results and although they were performing brilliantly in the Champions League they had still to hit form in the Premiership. But by December things were coming together nicely haven beaten Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United. The New Year saw them reach the Worthington Cup Final and thrash West Ham 6-0 in the FA Cup. They beat Juventus home and away in the Champions League and did not lose again in the Premiership all season.
In the Champions League although they beat Real Madrid at home they lost to them away and will have to look forward to trying to win the Champions League trophy next year. In the Premiership United went from strength to strength as Arsenal floundered and the trophy was theirs once more.
