Andy to Burton...Burton shoots..."John"!...Ball game!

It wasn't the most attractive game, but was, however, evenly contested and in the end, the Boyz came out victorious. Which is what is important at this stage. A win eqauls three valuable points, and a step closer the Japan/Korea.

Therefore, congratulations must be extended to one and all. From the Federation and coaching staff, to the supporters and especially the ones who made the treck to Trinidad and Tobago to give the Boyz their undying support. Also, before I forget, congrats to the players on a long overdue victory. Well done one and all.

Though we were victorious yesterday (Saturday) we are not yet out the dog-house, so to speak. And judging from our on the field display, there are a number of questions that will linger throughout the summer that must be addressed, issues also need to be resolved quickly if we hope to improve as a team, build on this victory, so that we may be a better cohesinve unit when it is time to face Mexico and the others, come September.

I, however, must ask a few questions (just for reasoning) before I go.

1. Why did we start Powell ahead of Lawrence? After all, Powell as been out with an injury and as not played for a while.

2. Fuller coming on in the dying stage of the game? Why not Dawes? So that he could step in the midfield and man-mark Anold Dwarika. Who was there only creative threat (And a good one at that) all night.

3. Why was Dwarika allowed to roam so freely? We should have made the necessary adjustments to the midfield, we must begin to demonstarte that we can do these simple things at this stage in our development.

Sterns goal -- I believe Aaron committed himself way to early. He came forward yes, but lean too early, and too much to his left.

Our counterattacks are much too slow, and while having a good game, Gardner needs to play a bit higher...which would force the opposing wingback to stay put in his own half.

BTW, best wishes to Clovis and his family. Just heard that his family was robbed at gunpoint in Brasil. Wishing them all the best.

Big up once again to the Boyz and all who made this victory possible.

Respect and irie ites!

Charmin: Yo have brought up three points which I think are very good points.

1. Why did we start Powell ahead of Lawrence? After all, Powell as been out with an injury and as not played for a while.

I am not sure myself why Powell was started ahead of Lawrence, but it was good to see that the coach realized his error and made the adjustment before the end of the first half. Good to see that tactically we know how to change gears if necessary.

2. Fuller coming on in the dying stage of the game? Why not Dawes? So that he could step in the midfield and man-mark Anold Dwarika. Who was there only creative threat (And a good one at that) all night.

I must agree, that sending on Fuller was a tactical blunder at that time. Maybe the coach felt that the best defense was to attack. Having Fuller in to run at their defense would force T&T to pull back their attacking personnel.

3. Why was Dwarika allowed to roam so freely? We should have made the necessary adjustments to the midfield, we must begin to demonstarte that we can do these simple things at this stage in our development.

Dwarika had a very good game, and as you said, this was helped by the fact that our midfielders did not close him down. The guy did not have to create space for himself to make his plays, as we gave him all the space in the world to do so. We should have focused on closing down Dwarika at the begining of the second half, then we would have steam rolled T&T.

Lastly, I have to commend the team effort and two very good goals by Onandi and Burton. The Simpson cross, and Nandi's finish is classical textbook finishing. Burton's goal was well deserved, and was the final nail in T&T's coffin.

I don't agree that starting Powell was blunder. His performance in my opinion was the best by any of our midfielders since the beginning of qualification. He increased our midfield's mobility by 100%.That's one of reasons why Simpson was able to have time to make crosses into the box.Really hope he will be 100% for the Mexico match. Our midfield future looks bright though, with Powell,Lawrence, Withmore and Gardner.
Fuller still have to start, Burton, just ain't create enough chances for Lowe. Fuller has to start.
