FIVE CARIBBEAN nations ravaged by this year's over-active hurricane season will benefit from US$1 million in assistance from football's world governing body.
FIFA has approved the fund to assist in the rebuilding of football in Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Bahamas.
Through the efforts of FIFA vice-president and CONCACAF president Jack Warner, who met with other FIFA officials last week, the five Caribbean countries will benefit from the fund that will ensure that football-related activities continue.
The money will cover such things as travel arrangements for national teams in upcoming international competitions, replacement of equipment, continuation of courses and other related matters.
In addition, FIFA will provide US$400,000 to assist with the affected FIFA Goal projects (offices, training facilities), as well as a further US$400,000 to assist in the second phase that will see the construction of other relevant facilities.
£10,000 FOR STADIUM REBUILDING
Warner revealed too that The Football Association in Britain has decided to contribute £10,000 towards the rebuilding of the Grenada National Stadium Complex, while the United States Soccer Federation has also agreed to give US$15,000.
