    Bolt officially lauded in Antigua

    ST. JOHN'S
    Sunday, September 20th 2009
Sprint icon Usain Bolt was lauded by Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer as he was given an official welcome following his arrival here Friday evening on private business.
The Jamaican, who owns the both sprint world records, was met by Spencer and Governor General Dame Louise Lake-Tack, after touching down at the V.C. Bird International Airport.
National hero Sir Vivian Richards and Bolt's training partner Daniel Bailey, recently accorded the status of Ambassador for his exploits on the track, were also on hand to meet the sprint star.
Speaking at a brief ceremony, Spencer praised Bolt's amazing accomplishments, stressing they symbolised the potential of Caribbean people.
He told Bolt the region was immensely proud of him and were hoping he and other Caribbean athletes could extend their recent dominance of international track and field.

Sir Viv, one of the West Indies' most successful captains and the most dominant batsman of his era, hailed the 23-year-old Bolt, noting it is a joy for him to see young people excelling at such high levels.
Bolt was accompanied by his brother Sadiki Bolt and fellow athletes Yohan Blake, Garth Garvey, Abadoo Bryan and Jermaine Gonzales.
They are scheduled to leave early next week.
