  • Talk about gross injustice

Stephen Francis as a coach, got 3 indivdual gold medals, 1 silver, and 1 bronze, and had 4 athletes that got 2 golds and 1 silver as part of relay teams making him the most successful at the games, yet Clyde Hart who coaches Jerimy Warner and Sanya Richards got named Coach of the Year. Even Glen Mills deserves it more than him.

World Athletes of the Year, from left, Usain Bolt of Jamaica and Sanya Richards of USA, pose with their awards...

Monaco, Monte-Carlo – Jamaican Usain Bolt and American Sanya Richards, were crowned as the Male and Female World Athletes of the Year 2009, during celebrations at the World Athletics Gala, in Monte Carlo, which was hosted by the (IAF) International Athletic Foundation’s
Honorary President, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and IAF & IAAF’s President Lamine Diack.

Both athletes were presented with their awards at the Salle des Etoiles of the Sporting Club d’Eté, Monte Carlo, on Sunday (Nov 22).

Bolt, who again captivated the attention of the sporting world with his World 100m and 200m gold medals, earned the honor for the second consecutive year.

“It’s been an amazing season but also a trying season,” said Bolt, who broke his own World records with stunning 9.58 and 19.19 performances at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium.

“To be named athlete of the year is such a great honor, it shows that all the work we put in, pays off.”

Like Bolt in the shorter sprints, Richards dominated the women’s 400m, producing seven of the year’s 10 fastest performances and finally won her first World title.

“I was asked if this feeling would be the same as being World champion and it really is,” said Richards, who had previously been named World Athlete of the Year in 2006. “Considering the other athletes I was up against this year, I know this must have been a really tough decision.”

One commentator on KLAS Orville Higgins said it is because no body likes Francis
Solidarity is not a matter of well wishing, but is sharing the very same fate whether in victory or in death.

That may be true, but it's not a popularity contest. The man's achievements are there and cannot be disputed.

                Talk about gross injustice

The 80s were pure sht in just about every catagory barring television - and even now when one views what was hot back then, one cringes a good part of the time.I hope that a decade like the 80s will NEVER be repeated again
Too lazy to set a custom title what is hedonism
