  • Jamaican sprint star Yohan Blake hits

He is yet to be picked up by a KFC T20 Big Bash League team, but Yohan Blake is brushing up on his cricket skills anyway.

The Jamaican sprint superstar, who finished second to Usain Bolt in the 100m and 200m at the London Olympics before claiming gold alongside Bolt in the 4 x 100m relay, expressed an interest in playing in the Big Bash League in August.

His interest was reciprocated by Sydney Sixers, with chief executive Stuart Clark saying his franchise would be keen to see Blake pad up in Australia.

The man known as ‘The Beast’ recently returned to Jamaica, and it didn’t take him long to head to the nets for a practice session.

Blake took to Twitter to tell his fans about his latest exploits.

"My first day at cricket training it was good (big match on Saturday) What you think people?," Blake wrote.

West Indies batting powerhouse Chris Gayle was quick to reply, asking what big match Blake was referring to.

"Gayle! Listen...St. Catherine T20 league. Portmore T20 league and Jamaica Supercup T20 Pro League. So just relax yourself!" Blake replied.

Blake is likely to turn out for his hometown club Kitson Town in the St Catherine League.

It’s a long way from the SCG, but he has to start somewhere.
