Not that the results will be the same, but remember that US 800m runner Maggie Vessey tested positive for the diuretic canrenone at a meet last year. Canrenone is a breakdown product of spironolactone, a diuretic that can be used as a masking agent, and that also has anti-androgen effects that can block the masculinizing effects of testosterone in women, and that can be used to lower testosterone levels when they need to be lowered for some reason.... Vessey evidently had a prescription for the drug which was prescribed to treat her acne that was caused by her excessive testosterone. She was punished with a "public warning", and the loss of her results from the meet she tested positive at. She received no ban. US soccer star Hope Solo also tested positive for canrenone, and received only a "public warning" as well, since in her case evidently the use of the banned substance was due to a prescription she was taking for premenstrual syndrome.... It'll be interesting to see how the explanation and the possible penalty in this case compares.

The writer is quite likely correct in his view that “not that the results will be the same.” On the other hand, as a Jamaican and as a diehard fan of the accused female athlete, I desperately hope he will be proven incorrect in that opening comment. But his post makes very interesting reading and provides much food for thought.

      Thanks for posting it, Willi.

Highly unlikely a diurectic is from a cream ,in fact i would rule it out .

Kayon Raynor, who originally broke the story explained this morning on Sports report that she had a swelling around the knee and used an application to bring it down.. or treat it and it is through that which the substance entered her body.
