    Yes. SFP won the award in 2013 just being triple gold medal winner at the WC. ET wasn't a triple gold medal winner this year.

    That takes precedence over word record. Wade just chose the wrong year for his feats
    that's not how it works...it's for athletic performance in 2016...not a culmination...the immortalization is dependent on years that are not 2016

    Yuh is a real objectionist! Anyway I agree it should be Bolt. His only feat in 2016 was to be immortalized .... This was the year he completed the triple triple.

    That takes precedence over word record. Wade just chose the wrong year for his feats

    ahmm...in 2016 he made history TWICE... first man in history to run faster than 10 seconds for 100m, 20 seconds for 200m and 44 seconds for 400m & he smashed the 400m WR at the olympics...cmon man...

    Usain Bolt wins IAAF World Athlete of the Year

    Nine-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt has won the IAAF male Athlete of the Year award for a record sixth time.

    Ethiopia's Almaz Ayana, who broke the 10,000m world record by over 14 seconds in winning Olympic gold in Rio this summer, won the female award.

    Bolt, 30, sealed the 'triple triple' in Rio, winning his third Olympic title in each of the 100m, 200m and 4x100m.
