For many decades, schools with underdeveloped sports programmes have chastised those with great track records in sports for stealing their athletes but Blake has seen where Jamaica's track and field has benefited from this.

"Talent will have a better chance of coming to the fore at schools with a good track record in sports, because they will have the equipment and talented coaches to get athletes to the optimum," Blake said. "We benefit from having athletes attend a specialist school - a school that does well in sports."

Tough but a Suh it set.Yuh know my stand on the buying thing,as a Cbar man has winning champs help Cbar to invest in it's academics e.g a building being built renovated or investments in a educational discipline in any creative way,sponsors like to invest in winners?

The CBar Old Boys Association is very active and vibrant with chapters all over the world. Through the successes of Champs, because of the involvement of the Old Boys Associations, CBar started their robotics program, built a computer lab, improve their mathematics program, donated computers, repair classrooms, and are in the process of building a museum. Just to name a few.

Ahhh see it deh, people need to make that arguement as per the residual educational benefits of buying, to present a holistic view of its benefits, to institutions of higher learning, all we get is "dem use dem and dash dem whey" ,well how about wi use dem fi build a lab so others can learn ?

Calabar Gets $200,000 Boost From 7 Up

"We are happy that they have come on board," said Corcho. "They have made a donation of $200,000 towards the academic programme at Calabar and we are happy for that. We are going to identify the top students in grades 10, 11, 12 and 13 and the funds will be used to help those young men in terms of their academic work," Corcho said.

He added: "We are also happy because I keep on telling people that Calabar is not just about track and field, as we have done well academically, and this is another way that corporate Jamaica is helping out."

Some one need to write an investigative piece about the economic advantages of not having champs as part of our culture,same with school boy football.They speak as if its a hinderance and they have a solution in solving our educational system.
