Kid Adu will do for Reading loan

    By STEVE BRENNER

    (The Sun - UK)

READING are lining up a sensational swoop for USA wonderkid Freddy Adu.

Steve Coppell wants Adu on a six-month loan from January with a view to a £5million permanent deal next summer.

The 17-year-old has been in outstanding form with Major League Soccer side DC United.

And he could be tempted to join fellow Yanks Bobby Convey and Marcus Hahnemann at Reading.

MLS owns the contracts of all their players and see Adu’s move as a boost to their world standing.

An MLS source said: “If an offer comes in for Freddy it will be considered.

“The player’s wishes and desires would be involved in the process.”

Adu has been touted as a hot property since his MLS debut in 2004 aged just 14 — making him the youngest-ever professional in American sport history.

He also became USA’s youngest international earlier this year and ran rings round Celtic in a summer friendly, scoring in DC United’s 4-0 romp.

Reading are set to hand Ivar Ingimarsson a new deal — just 11 months after his last pay rise.

The Iceland defender, 29, signed a £5,000-a-week deal when Royals were still a Championship side.

But boss Coppell is ready to hike his wages to around £8,000 a week.

Yeah for real. But him have a betta chance of getting a run at Reading than Manu, Chelsea, Milan etc. Bibi's handlers chose Bolton instead of other teams who were rumored to be interested in him after '98. I agree like yuh observation, that if one of the betta teams want him, then go deh.
