(Photo: Bryan Cummings)</SPAN></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><P class=StoryText align=justify>Jamaica made a winning but unconvincing start to the defence of their Digicel Cup crown with a 4-0 thrashing of St Lucia at the National Stadium last night.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The Reggae Boyz, comprised primarily of local-based players, got maiden goals from Kevin Lamey, Wilfred Smith and Demar Phillips to jump into joint leadership of Group B with three points.<P class=StoryText align=justify>They share the lead with Haiti, who hammered St Vincent and the Grenadines by a similar score.
    For Jamaica it was the classic case of two halves - reasonable in the first, but woefully lacking in ideas in the second.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The Boyz were 4-0 ahead just past the half-hour mark, but the expected floodgates were never opened.
    Seba's Smith opened the scoring in the third minute when he slammed home from inside the box after goalie Giovanni Veterville coughed up a Fabian Davis left-footer.<P class=StoryText align=justify>In the 22nd minute Lamey, long the prolific scorter at the local level, opened his international account. He was fed by Waterhouse clubmate Phillip, and from an angle.     Lamey completed his brace six minutes later.<P class=StoryText align=justify>In the curtain-raiser the French-speaking Haitians took the lead in the 18th minute through Josue Mayard. Jean Baptiste Fritzson doubled the lead nine minutes into the second half before Jean Jascques Pierre made it 3-0 with 11 minutes to go.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The rout was completed three minutes into added time when substitute Marc Herold Gracien scored.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The competition continues tomorrow at the same venue with Haiti vs St Lucia at 5:00 pm and Jamaica vs SVG at 7:00.
