Jamaica squandered a two-goal advantage and a psychological win over Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) to draw 2-2 in their International Friendly at the National Stadium last night.

Goals by captain Marlon King in the 35th and Tyrone Marshall in the 40th gave Jamaica what seemed to be their third win from three games at the “Office” under the new administration of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).

But the visitors had other ideas and substitute Osei Telesford fired home in the 74th minute before captain Aurtis Whitley levelled the score with a 25 metres beauty to silenced the partisan home fans in the 90th minute.

Jamaica’s technical director, Rene Simoes was visibly disappointed but he pleads with the fans to be patient as he builds toward the World Cup Qualifiers.

“Yes, for what we did in the first half. But this is a time to build for World Cup and we have to give a chance for our players," said Simoes.

Simoes also defended his multiple changes, which affected Jamaica’s momentum and brought T&T back into the game. “Now is the time for that, we cannot do it during the World Cup. But you have to pay the price sometimes”.

Simoes, in his second game in charge of the Reggae Boyz, beg the fans to give him the stick and not the players when things didn’t go according to plan at the post match press conference.

The Reggae Boyz gave debut to 20-year-old Obrian Woodbine of Reno FC at left back with Donovan Ricketts in goal and Adrian Reid partnering Demar Stewart in the centre of the defence. Veteran Tyrone Marshall of Toronto FC started at right back for the second game running.

The towering Oneil Thompson and Rudolph Austin formed the central midfield pair with Demar Phillips on the left and Omar Daley on the right. Marlon King and Luton Shelton started upfront ahead of Deon Burton.

T&T with a relatively young team including 16-year-old striker Randi Patterson, Kern Cupid, Kerry Baptiste, Aurtis Whitley, Keon Daniels and Daryl Roberts.

In front of approximately 20,000 fans at the Office, the Reggae Boyz came out full of running and totally dominated the early play.

They were quicker to the ball and never allowed the Soca Warriors any breathing space and it was not surprised when the Jamaica opened the scoring.

Wigan striker, Marlon King, captaining the team in the absence of Ricardo Gardner, collected a ball with his back to goal and in one motioned turned a curled a beauty from just outside the box pass the diving Jan Michael Williams in goal.

Moments later Marshall got the ball into the back of the net but his headed effort was ruled offside by Alfredo Whittaker.

But Marshall was not to be denied. He latched on to a long pass and out-muscled the defender before firing past the advancing goalkeeper.
The half ended 2-0 for the home team but Simoes, wanted to have a look at the other players and he brought on striker Deon Burton, goalkeeper Duwayne Kerr at the resumption and Khari Stephenson, 19-year-old James Thomas, Wolry Wolfe, Ricardo Cousins later.

It totally disrupted the flow of the game and T&T capitalised by some poor defending. Substitute the dread-locks, Osei Telesford, fired home from close range after he founding himself with acres of space in the 76th minute.

Then in the 90th minute, captain Aurtis Whitley, benefitted from a wild misskick from Cousins, slipped by another defender before rifling home a 25-metres screamer.

It was a painful and disappointed draw Jamaican fans but T&T celebrated as if they had won the match after coming from two goals down and being totally outplayed in the first half. Credit must go to the Soccer Warriors for a tremendous fight back.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

I just watchd a piece of the game online. We need alot of help. Trinidad was week. Against US, we'll get killed. It was like Harbour View and DC. We held on to the ball too long and didn't have a clue in the final 3rd. We dribbled and failed to make that final pass. We need to move the ball around moe often...Simoes have some serios work to do
