1 David James (Portsmouth): The former England number one was not really called into action much but when he was needed he stayed alert against his old side. James made two classy saves to condemn West Ham to yet another fruitless away day.
2 Leighton Baines (Wigan): Followed up his cracking strike for the Under-21 side with a smashing effort against United. The classy left-back is beginning to show just why he is being talked about as a future replacement for Ashley Cole for the national side.
3 Claude Davis (Sheffield Utd): Whilst there were others who performed well in defence, Davis deserves credit for his disciplined and effective display at City. The defender will be a big asset to Neil Warnock’s side this season.
4 Linvoy Primus (Portsmouth): Despite Sol Campbell’s arrival at Pompey it is Primus that has been grabbing headlines with his performances. The former Barnet man was outstanding against West Ham, once again outshining Campbell.
5 Zurab Khizanishvili (Blackburn): Was always in the right place when needed. His last second interventions prevented a goal on a number of vital occasions during the game, the most impressive was a goal-line clearance when Blackburn seemed certain to concede.
6 El Hadji Diouf (Bolton): Has overtaken Robbie Savage as the Premiership’s most hated player but Trotters fans won't care one bit. The Bolton forward grabbed two goals in a devastating 2-minute spell to condemn Newcastle to another defeat.
7 Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal): If the Spaniard continues like this he will be a certainty for young player of the season. Frightening how good Fabregas can become if he continues to progress at this pace.
8 Gareth Barry (Aston Villa): The skipper saved his side's unbeaten run with a stunning solo goal with only ten minutes left. Barry could well find himself back in contention for an England place if he continues to shine this season.
9 Tomas Rosicky (Arsenal): Forced a great save from the Watford keeper with a blistering shot. The Czech midfielder’s willingness to have a crack from distance has benefited the usually shot-shy Gunners.
10 Wayne Rooney (Man United): Brushed aside talk of a crisis of confidence with an immense performance against Wigan. Whilst Roonaldo failed to score, his work rate, industry and energy were far too much for shell-shocked Wigan. Superb.
11 Thierry Henry (Arsenal): The Arsenal talisman was outstanding against Watford scoring his side's second goal and creating their third. Henry’s partnership with Adebayor is beginning to look much more effective. </DIV>
