TITLE sponsors Caribbean Broilers Limited (CB Chicken) has increased its backing of the Insports Primary School Football Championship by 60 per cent, to $1.6 million.
Group marketing manager Roger Thompson told the Observer his company has moved away from being sponsor to partner.
"For many years now this age group level have been ignored and we think that this is a good position for us to start making a contribution to nation building and to make a contribution to the building of our brands," said Thompson, who was speaking at yesterday's launch of the competition at Alhambra Inn.
"We want to build on the education process and use football as the avenue that can build... better leaders in our country. This is the second year of our sponsorship and we're looking forward to a bright future," Thompson added.

Two newcomers, Constitutional Hill and Clifton Primary, are among the 52 schools participating in the 28th staging, which kicks off tomorrow at the National Stadium with defending champions Holy Family vs Maxfield Park at 1:30 pm.
Forty-eight teams contested the tournament last year.
Meanwhile, INSPORTS administrative director Ian Andrews told the Observer that like last season, approximately J$3 million will be spent to run the competition between now and February.
"This year is the second year where we've had this kind of sponsorship attached to the competition which started back in 1978. so this is even better than last year in that we have an increase in sponsorship from CB Chicken.
"In addition, we have Wisynco through their products WATA and Bigga coming on in a bigger better way with more money, and also more contribution in terms of refreshments and so on," Andrews said.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
