Panama ask FIFA to sanction El Salvador
    … for stadium ban

    July 04, 2008

    Football - CONCACAF
The Panamanian Football Federation has requested FIFA to sanction El Salvador for, “the incidents of hostility, aggression and disrespect suffered” by its national team when both team played in a CONCACAF World Cup qualifier recently at the Cuscathlan Stadium in San Salvador.

“We feel victimized by the Salvadoran Federation, the fans and even the referee of the game, Mexican Marco Antonio Rodriguez,” said Ariel Alvarado in an official letter.
Alvarado asked FIFA to, “impose severe sanctions which will be good for the eliminations which are talking place in the region, and to ban the Cuscathlan Stadium.”
“I could never think that a civilized country would have people who do not know that football is a celebration of brotherhood between peoples. We suffered severe maltreatment both outside the stadium and on the pitch. Fair play never existed, neither on the part of the fans, the Salvadoran players, referees, nor the Salvadoran Football Federation itself,” Alvarado pronounced.

The Panamanian Federation also denounced the attitude of the Salvadoran fans who, “at the moment that the Panamanian national hymn was being sung and the Salvadoran player Pacheco took out a small Panamanian flag and threw it to the ground; they cheered.”
The letter to FIFA spoke of bags of water, urine and plastic bottles which were thrown on the Panamanian players each time they went to take thrown in or a corner. It stated that goalkeeper Jaime Penedo was struck by a bottle and the referee did nothing to calm the aggressive fans.
Panama were eliminated after losing 3-2 to El Salvador in that game after leading with a 1-0 victory in Panama City the previous week.

FIFA and CONCACAF need to clamp down on countries that allow their fans to throw urine on players. But ... then .. with bitches like Blabber incharge of FIFA ... nothing gonna happen.

I watched the Panama vs. El Salvador game, and Panama's goalkeeper was clearly struck on the arm at one point. Also, debris was being thrown at Panama players during corner kicks.
