  • The facts about this new coach

I read all this pontifficating about a new coach. Here are the facts. JFF has no money. The coach will be local-based. Simoes was quite likely fired to cut losses and stop the financial haemorrhaging.

Why don't they have money? Didn't all sorts of sponsors come on board recently - Red Stripe, JMMB, Digicel, etc.?

    Whither the Academy?

Did we have money pre 98 WC , why is this not having money an issue ? have we ever had money ?

Get a long term reasonable coach with realistic expectations , what if we dont qualify for the WC and our youngsters consistently qualify for FIFA tournaments, how about getting more coaches UEFA /FIFA qualified , how about mre overseas contracts , like 5 players a year to europe .

Simple achievable objectives. Why cant we get a Siera B brazillian coach , or John barnes on a consultancy basis as T.D .

Hiring this multi Million dollar coac isnt feasabille , if barnes want 250,000 a year wha dat ?

But the sensible among us have said this from long time. US$600,000.00 a year!? For a football coach with no gurantees?!?

            Madness!

            Time to support FOOTBALL!

I believe the JFF would have been willing to continue the "financial haemorrhaging" if we were looking likely to make the Hex. I dont think any federation in CONCACAF (outside the top 2 Mex and USA) could realsitically afford to pay a coaching staff to sit around twiddling their thumb doing nothing and collecting US$1M per year. On that type of salary, Jamaica's football need to be consistently doing well at all levels, and pulling in money through the various channels (gate reciepts etc)

Truth be told, the JFF probably needs to find a decent enough coach that is willing to come here and work with us over the next 5-8 years on a salary somewhere in the region US$250K per year. Hard to find these days, but I am sure there is somone out there who would be willing to give it a shot and try to make a name for himself in the process.

What is Harbour view paying the Brazilian coach? His resume looks impressive. We need someone like him to coach us.

Solution: Rehire Simoes for US$250k/annum as TD with a wide range of responsibility, and hire a local coach for US$60k - US$80k. Here's the shortlist: Carl Brown, Tappa, Bouyus, Dean Weatherly. I think Simoes still has more value to us than any foreign coach.

That Burrell interview I am to get around to putting out explains why the funds are not enough.

Believe it or not that makes sense .Hire a T.D and then a coach us 60 to 70 a year is good , a T.D on a consultancy basis for 150,to 250 is reasonable .

Barnes would b the ideal candidate for T.D , with clear objectives

T.D is responsible for implementing our tactical style of play across the Island and tageting all FIFA tournaments.

                    1) the coach is in charge of all national teams

                    etc etc.

Simoes could probably get twice that amount coaching a state side in Brazil.

Are you sure about that? Maybe we overestimate these coaches' salaries.

I say keep Simoes as he is already familiar with most of our sponsors, plus the man does have a way with his letters. Simoes is more of an asset to us in a role of a TD than as a coach.
