Theodore Whitmore will definitely be part of the coaching staff as Jamaica moves forward, JamaicaWin.com has confirmed. “Whitmore will definitely be involved,” Captain Horace Burrell told JamaicaWin.com earlier today. Burrell said that an executive meeting of the Jamaica Football Federation will be held today starting at 2:00pm, at which time details will be tabled. He was however tight lipped about the total package, stating that this reporter should be physically available to capture breaking news that might come from the meeting.

Earlier, sources told JamaicaWin.com that the former Reggae Boy, who was an assistant to former coach Rene Simoes during his nine months tenure, was summoned to the meeting and was scheduled to be picked up at airport in the Stewarts’s Motors BMW X3 that Simoes drove for the past few months.

Other names have been banded about such as former England star John Barnes, many-time national coach and current coach of the Cayman Islands Carl Brown and former United States coach Bruce Arena. However, the current financial constraints of the JFF and the possibility that the team could be playing only three more World Cup qualifiers would force the Federation to look at the most cost effective solution.

Whitmore had a successful stint coaching Seba United at the start 2007/2008 Premier League campaign and has accumulated considerable experience with Jamaica. He was named interim coach on the firing of Bora Milutinovic last December, sharing coaching duties with veteran Bradley Stewart until Simoes regained the helm in January. Whitmore was an integral part of Jamaica’s team which qualified for the World Cup finals in France 1998. He scored Jamaica's two goals against Japan in the country's lone but historic victory at the tournament.

Editor's note: JamaicaWin.com will have an update as soon as the meeting is concluded.

DUH... the BMW was driven by the last head coach so the fact that this same BMW pick up Tappa give credence to the news that he will be filling Simoes shoe. Deductive reasoning folks, c'mon now!!!
