U.S. U-20’s Cruz To Victory In Opener

The United States Under-20 Men’s National Team got off to a bright start in its campaign to qualify for the Under-20 World Cup with a 3-0 thrashing of Jamaica on Friday night.

The U.S. opened the scoring in just the eighth minute when Dilly Duka and Danny Cruz set the table for Peri Marosevic. Duka did well to beat two defenders and slip a cross to Cruz, who headed the ball down for Marosevic. Marosevic made no mistake with the side volley and the U.S. had an early lead.

Young Boyz crash 0-3 to US

BLACK ROCK, Tobago - Jamaica Under-20s suffered a setback in their World Cup aspirations, crashing 0-3 to the United States of America (USA) in their Group A CONCACAF qualifying match at the Dwight Yorke Stadium last night.
A Perica Marosevic sixth-minute strike gave the group favourites the lead before Dilaver Onka doubled the advantage in the 77th minute with Jamaica pressing for the equaliser. Substitute William Schuler killed off the game, nodding home from a corner kick in the 83rd minute.

The USA jumped to the top of the standings with three points with both Honduras and El Salvador on one point after battling to a 2-2 draw in the curtain raiser.
Jamaica, who play El Salvador on Sunday, are at the bottom of the table without a point, despite dominating the match throughout, but fell to the US counter attacking style, especially in the second half.
In front a small gathering, striker Dever Orgill was up to old tricks again, stamping American defender Gale Agbossoumonde and receiving a yellow card in the second minute of play.
Four minutes later, Marosevic gave the USA the lead after latching onto a headed pass, swivelled and tucked his shot wide of the hapless Andre Blake in goal.
It wasn't the start Jamaica were looking for, but they will have to play catch-up and it hurt them in the end as they pressed and chased the game.
Jamaica responded immediately with Reneil Sappleton latching onto a Shamar Shelton pass, but kicking straight at the goalkeeper from the edge of the box. He could have done better with Orgill begging for the ball on a two-on-two situation.
The Jamaicans settled nicely and bossed the majority of the possession of the ball, but couldn't find the equaliser. Orgill, Evan Taylor, Keithy Simpson and Romario Campbell dominated, but the Americans stood firm at the back.
The half ended in favour of the Americans, but they were barely hanging on under tremendous pressure from the young Reggae Boyz.
Five minutes in the second half, coach Donovan Duckie brought on Alanzo Adlam and Davion Thorpe for the Sappleton, who looked jet-lagged and the ineffective Shamar Shelton.
In the 70th minute Adlam set up Orgill inside the box, but his shot was deflected for a corner.
Seven minutes later the US struck on the counter as Onka slotted home a right-sided cross. Schuler then made the points safe converting from a corner.
In the curtain raiser, Honduras and El Salvador battled to a 2-2 draw. Honduras led twice, as Roger Rojas gave them the lead in the 66th minute before Mark Blanco equalised in the 77th. Jose Valladares restored the advantage in the 81st, but El Salvador refused to die and Andreas Flores earned a draw in the 89th minute.

Well, we simply need to win the next 2 games.

The U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team defeated Jamaica 3-0 behind goals from Peri Marosevic, Dilly Duka and Billy Schuler to kick off the final round of the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship at Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago.

Marosevic scored what would prove to be the game-winner in just the sixth minute. Duka, doubled the U.S. lead in the 79th minute and Schuler rounded out the scoring in the 84th minute, just five minutes after entering the game as a substitute.

Well, both teams had the same amount of shots. But the U.S. boys had more shots on goal and won more corner kicks, too.

Of course, you guys did out-foul us. But that's a category where you always win!

Quote Saw the game live . Supported Jamrock but was really disappionted with their display. No apparent game plan. Every player and i man every one that is except the captain who is also the sweeper, though they should take 5 touches before handing of the ball. Jamaica really played badly the crowd was extremely disappointed as they were rooting for them. Very poor technically, maybe they are good at home but at this level looked out of depth. Hopefully they can improve and qualify. Dookie is mih boy so he mut be fuming, hope he comes up with a better game plan and the players understand it.

The fan seems to be saying the quality was as I saw it in Ft Lauderdale.
