  • Captain Puto Gets 2-Game Suspension

    From Foxsoccer.com:

Mexico captain Rafael Marquez has been suspended for two matches for unsportsmanlike behavior in last month's World Cup qualifier against the United States.

The defender, who plays for Spanish powerhouse Barcelona, will have to sit out Mexico's March 28 qualifier against Costa Rica and the April 1 matchup with Honduras.

The sanction was handed down by the sport's world governing body FIFA after Marquez kicked the leg of U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard in the opening game of the final round of CONCACAF qualifying for next year's World Cup. Marquez was sent off and Mexico lost the Feb. 11 match 2-0.

The federation's disciplinary commission also issued the same suspension to assistant manager Francisco Ramirez.

Should have got a similar suspension for what he did to Pepe Goodison during the Jamaica v Mexico game.
