  • Oldham Newspaper opinion on Jermain Johnson....Good and Bad

Oldham Evening Chronicle: 'Sometimes brilliant, occasionally dreadful, (Jermaine) Johnson had three spells with Athletic before he returned to the domestic league in his native Jamaica.
'Johnson was eventually paid off, with (Brian) Talbot branding him 'a law unto himself' who 'wasn`t a bad lad but needed shock treatment'.''

Yet that was far from the end of it - Johnson had a knee injury at the time and Athletic allowed him to continue reporting in for treatment.

Talbot then left, and new manager Ronnie Moore, who had always liked Johnson`s pace, re-signed him on a short-term deal.

The forward was released again in May of last year, and it`s fair to say Athletic lost an interesting, complex personality.

He`s incredibly laid-back off the pitch but prone to flashes of temper during games; he mixes the sublime with the ridiculous; and he endears himself to people while frustrating them at the same time.

So far, the positive side of Johnson`s character has been very much to the fore at Bradford.
