      Please. They had pure butchers in Spain and Italy in Diego days. Pele did get licks in WC, Maradona get licks throughout entire seasons

        No doubt Diego played against some rough customers. But I've read accounts of Pele getting mauled in the Brazilian league, and especially in the Copa Libertadores against some of the Argentinian teams.

        You also have to keep in mind that Pele played most of his career before yellow and red cards even existed!
