This is the Colorado Rapids assistant coach's assesment of Omar Cummings I cut and pasted form another article:
Omar Cummings is a pacy striker who has dominated in the Big East Conference for the past two seasons. In the words of a colleague of mine who coaches in the Big East, Omar “is already a man”. It is our hope that his composure and scoring touch will translate to the pro game as we should have the players around him to help him do just that. You never do know how these kids will react to the MLS environment, but if our evaluations of him and recommendations by others within the college game are accurate, we have found ourselves a real player...............
.......The keys will be Nico, Greg Dalby and Omar. If one of these top three picks can come through for us in 2007, it can be considered a good draft. If two of them make an impact, it will be exceptional.
Remember, it is unfair to burden young players with high expectations in a public forum. But I’m a pretty confident guy though, and will say that this group will make a difference in the 2007 Colorado Rapids season in all levels of competition in the short term, and help lay a foundation for the future success long term.
