<SPAN class=art-text>The 2007 CONCACAF Champions Cup is destined for either the United States or Mexico after the semi-final line-up was completed byDC United, Chivas, Houston Dynamoand Pachuca.

Chivas repelled a brave fight from Trinidadian minnows W Connection FC and Pachuca edged out Guatemala's Deportivo Marquense on Wednesday night while the USA's two representatives, DC United and Houston Dynamo, beat Olimpia of Honduras and Puntarenas of Costa Rica respectively.

For the third year on the trot, Mexico's two representatives booked passage to the semi-final stage of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Afterlosing out ignominiously in their first quarter-final leg to minnows W Connection FC, Mexican champions Chivas of Guadalajara stormed back to overturn the deficit on home soil in the return leg on 28 February.

Although the Trinidadian outfit gave good account of themselves again at the Jalisco Stadium, the Mexicans pulled off a 3-0 win thanks to a brace from Sergio Santana and another goal from Adolfo 'Bofo' Bautista. Unable to get themselves on the scoresheet, the Caribbean minnows came crashing back down to earth on the wrong side of a 4-2 aggregate loss.

Pachuca, last year's Copa Nissan Sudamerica winner and the other Mexican outfit in the Champions Cup, had to struggle in their second-leg match with Guatemala's Deportivo Marquense on Wednesday night.However, a lone goal on the road from Luis Angel Landin gave the Mexicans a 1-0 win on the night and a 3-0 aggregate victory in the series.

The two American representatives put in some fine performances as well to book their places in the semi-finals. DC United, CONCACAF Champions Cup winners back in 1998, put paid to Honduran giants Olimpia 3-2 at RFK stadium on 1 March to build on their 4-1 first-leg win and ease through to the last four one the end of a bloated 7-3 aggregate win.

AN ALREADY-surging Harbour View seem poised to continue their domina-tion of local competitions following the return to the fold of midfield maestro Jermaine Hue.

"Whenever you can get a player of that quality back in your squad it's always going to be a big plus," said Habour View coach Lenworth Hyde Sr.

"You saw glimpses of his quality today and as long as he remains disciplined and works hard, he will have absolutely no problems at all fitting into the squad," the coach said.

Hue looked sharp after coming on to the pitch for Kemeel Wolfe on Wednesday night. In the space of 15 minutes, he set up at least three clear goal-scoring opportunities.

Gee Karl maybe it's the

JFF not giving enough backoffice support or the corporations not pumping in enough money. Last time I checked the NPL got millions from corporate sponsors,some teamsare even adopted by a huge corporation. We have a problem playing this sport because after seeing a nation of 39k perform at the U20s, it causes me to rethink this whole thing.
