  • FIFA Women's World Ranking 2007: New rankings March 16, 2007

I am expecting a massive jump upwards.

    In the 50s? ...or, higher?

    What say you?

Japan takes first-leg of playoff over Mexico

    10.3.07
    - Japan took the first-leg of the home-and-away playoff series for the final qualification berth to the FIFA Women’s World Cup China 2007 as they defeated visiting Mexico 2:0 at Tokyo’s National Stadium on Saturday.

Homare Sawa and Aya Miyama scored in the 37th and 69th minutes, respectively, for Japan in the victory over Mexico.

The second-leg of the playoff series is set for the Nemesio Diez Stadium in Toluca, Estado de Mexico on 17 March.

This is the third consecutive time that the tricolores are competing in a playoff series for a place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup having done so in the 1999 event (defeated Argentina of CONMEBOL) and 2003 tournament (lost to Japan).
