  • Chelsea v Aston Villa: Torres' goal!...and Walcott's failure

This example of moving to where the ball will fall/ball's 'point of arrival'...highlights Walcott's running away from the ball. A cross such as the above would never see Walcott moving to the ball. He would hide behind the defender. He would trot across and and fail to jump...

btw - ...much as our Dane Richards does for our Reggae Boyz! Dane would sometimes jump but he would 'pull in his neck' and make a half-hearted jump to aid him in not challenging for the ball.

I hope Dane becomes bolder in such situations and attack the ball as did Torres...as Dane reads the game well as his movement towards the area in which the ball arrives tells. ...at present he just gets in the area and watches our opponents win the ball (that is just one way of playing for the wrong TEAM).

Karl, is it that Dane pulls his neck in or he is just hampered by having a short neck?

No one can pull neck in...that was just a quaint way of saying he does not extend to full height. He fakes an attack on the ball. Perhaps the word to use would be he hunched...'doubled up' self!
