(Tony Quinn/MLS/WireImage.com)</DIV></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><DIV class=storyBody>A pair of defensive errors doomed D.C. United to a 2-1 defeat to CD Guadalajara at the Mexican side's Estadio Jalisco home, eliminating the 2006 MLS Supporters' Shield winners from the CONCACAF Champions' Cup 3-2 on aggregate.

United legend Jaime Moreno opened the scoring for D.C. United, but poor marking led to a late first half equalizer for Adolfo Bautista and Chivas, and D.C. goalkeeper Troy Perkins bobbled home the winner from a Gonzalo Pineda strike early in the second.

The loss means MLS teams remain winless in competitive matches played on Mexican soil, and puts the league's hopes of having a representative in December's FIFA Club World Cup on Houston Dynamo. The Orange visit Mexican side CF Pachuca on Thursday.

In the first leg of the series on March 15, visiting Chivas were the aggressors early on, and the roles were reversed Tuesday night. United forced the action into the Chivas defensive third, while the hosts looked to counterattack. D.C., in fact, forced two corner kicks in the first four minutes, but nothing came of them.

Moreno fired the first salvo in the 18th minute, hitting a 20-yard shot over the bar after backing his defenders into the box.

At the other end just two minutes later, a bad giveaway by Clyde Simms led to Chivas' first chance. Bautista collected the loose ball and played Sergio Santana into the box. United 'keeper Troy Perkins had to rush out to block Santana's stab at the net.

For United, the 29th minute brought a game-changing injury. Josh Gros, who had spent the first half hour of the match charging up and down the left wing and providing some extra defensive cover, was forced out due to a head injury and replaced by Stephen DeRoux.

The effects weren't immediate, as United took the lead in the 36th minute. Moreno played a ball up the left channel for striker Luciano Emilio, who brought the ball into the box before cutting back to lose a defender and the on-rushing 'keeper. His square pass to Moreno was tipped in the air, and the Bolivian launched himself into the air to convert an overhead kick and give the MLS side the lead.

Gros' absence was finally felt three minutes before the whistle, as Ramon Morales played a ball over the top on the wide open left side. United's Facundo Erpen was caught upfield of his mark, Alberto Medina, and couldn't catch up as Medina hustled to the endline.

Bobby Boswell committed another mistake, as he couldn't decide whether to come out to challenge Medina or stay home and mark Bautista, and Bautista easily jabbed home Medina's centering ball.

In the second half, Chivas took more of the initiative, shifting the point of attack into United's end.

The home side forced the deciding error in the 52nd minute, as Pineda fired a quick shot from 30 yards, and the ball - wet from an ever-intensifying rain - squeezed through Perkins' hands and into the net.

The Chivas attack relaxed from there on, as the Red-and-White pulled back into their own half. The visitors threatened just five minutes after the Chivas game-winner, but Luis Michel was there to punch away Christian Gomez's point blank shot from DeRoux's centering pass.

Perkins had to be on the ball to keep United in the game seven minutes from full time. Santana eluded Bryan Namoff's slide tackle to go one-on-one with Perkins in the penalty area, but Perki
