      Great...but this is a Brazilian court; my question is why they can't do this in Europe?

            The way I read that article the 1 yr might be swapped for a fine...

                ...but not even half John Terry's £220,000 fine... the Brazilian judge should still throw some jail time in... that would send a really strong message.

                  true ..... but john terry was not found guilty by a court of law amd so jail time was not on the table.

                    Consider that, in Brazil, Edmundo killed 3 people drunk driving and was found guilty of manslaughter, but has yet to serve his sentence for it. And that happened 17 years ago!
