  • Timbers vs Red Bulls tidday!

Match time 7:30PM on ESPN 2.

Watch Ricketts and Ryan Johnson as they play for Portland Timbers!

If you missed the Timbers and Red Bulls game you missed a good one. Match ended 3-3. Ricketts got beaten three times, but cannot be blamed for the goals. He kept well otherwise and was an example of good ball distribution from a GK. I would just like to see him do the same for the Reggae Boyz.

Johnson played as the lone striker and as usual put in a full shift. Had a couple opportunities where he should have gotten on the score sheet, but either a close miss or the Gk saved.

I am impressed with the Portland supporters, like I am with Seattle. Red Bulls were met with a sell out and vociferous crowd. It makes the game exciting to watch than having an empty stadium.

I am going to look up the schedule and start watching some more matches.

        Thanks, boss!
        Very interesting match.

Shows Ryan Johnson and Ricketts in a different light from that seen in the rarefied Mexico City atmosphere.

Pleasantly surprised at the quality play. Will have to watch more games.

Was a strong advertisement for MLS. The passionate fans, the goals, the pace of play...

Cahill is not worth $3 million and will probably never have the impact that most Designated Players in the league have. He is a hard working player who pops into the box and score goals, but he will never give you a Henry, Keane, Landon, Valeri, Javier Morales type play on the field.

He was playing the Torres (#9) role. Make good plays to support teammates, but miss any opportunity he gets.

On a more serious note though, goalscoring does not tell all. He played well and had some good chances where he should have scored. I remember even a bicycle kick, with his back to goal in the latter part of the game which just missed the upright. He had other close calls too. All in all, the game was quite entertaining.

Watching the game made me think man with that vibe I would be a going to more than a few games if I lived there. The northwest teams have brought a different feel to football in the mls, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver. Very exciting.

I managed to watch a re-run of the game earlier and also found some highlights.
Good exciting game with great fan support. MLS on the rise, really nice to see.

And also Mattocks in action for Vancouver v Toronto, i am pleasantly surprised to see the amount of players who used to play in English football now playing in the MLS. In this game alone there is YP Lee, Nigel Reo-Coker, Kenny Miller, Jay Demerrit.

ha ha. Now you see what I am saying. MLS is not a walkover league at all.

really been watching the improvement over the last 5 years and it is very good to see. As I say most teams in the MLS would be comfortable in the British Championship league.
