Joe Hart's form a worry for Hodgson

Manuel Pellegrini used the default option of refusing to discuss individuals when asked to deliver his thoughts on a matter of growing concern for Manchester City and England.

But no words were needed from the Chilean: goalkeeper Joe Hart's desperate performance as City were swept aside by Champions League holders Bayern Munich at Etihad Stadium spoke for itself.

If Hart's display in City's 3-1 defeat could be measured in confidence it would barely register. And now the man who has been undisputed number one for club and country for so long has reached crisis point.

"Donovan was excellent. We knew he was a good player, but he really didn't do anything wrong in the whole game and made it difficult for us."

Joe Hart is the least of England's problems. The trouble Hart standard have been so high that the few mistakes he makes are highlighted to the extreme.
Joe Hart is a great goalkeeper who is having a rocky spell but will come out stronger and better, at 26 yrs old he is nowhere near his peak for a goalkeeper. I expect him to be England's number 1 for many years to come.

How can a keeper who regularly makes basic errors and struggles to distribute the ball be considered great?

A good performance here and there and it seems that Rooney and the rest, take it to another level with the Hart hype.

There is this overrating of English footballers that boggles the mind. I thought we were over that from the Kevin Keegan days?!?!

Saw Pantillimon in the Capital One cup game. Seen him on one other occasion; he seems quite up-to-the-task. Quite confident.

Pellegrini still needs to sort out City back-line though.
